I found it to be an ok game, until they fixed a bug that let you get double XP forever. After that was fixed the game started to really suck (XP grind that totally takes the piss). It has too much potentional, but ruined by 2D thinking.

My thoughts exactly.  If they implemented zero g with zero drag, it would be more interesting.  More difficult to manage, but also more rewarding, I think.

Come to think of it Battletech space combat has never seen the light of day on a PC game.  Hell, even a Battletech mod of Sins of a Solar Empire would rock.
