Do not feel like the Lone Ranger, I had my PC spec built so I could run this game, Rise of Flight Iron Cross edition and MW reboot. (now on-line) With the prior machine I was in DELL Hell and it crashed everytime I tried to get on MWLL even when it was in the early stages. Heck it had reoccurring problems even with MW4.(mostly connection problems)

Hey hey Rise of Flight thats one seriously amazing game ;D Their texture work is simply stunning, resembling WW camouflages truthfully ;) *Completely ignores the fact that you actually bought a DELL :o*

The only real challenge, I think, is finding the role you need to play in a certain game - is it really useful to play as BA the way things are going in the match, etc.

Yeah i will say the best matches i remember are the one that has fluid battlefield dynamics.  It's amazing what a well placed APC or air asset can do to a match :D

Yeah, a lot of it is map-dependent. On cooler maps or maps with water, mechs that usually run really hot and are coolant-dependent become better choices. It seems that only on the very hottest maps are flamer-dedicated attacks remotely useful. BA is insanely useful if you start to see a lot of Demolishers/Morrigus/LongToms/Arrows/LRMs, or even assault mechs. Some otherwise-good mechs are very bad against BA. The problem is the barrier of entry for BA is pretty high; you'll die a lot before you're useful. Errodien is the best BA player out there, with Coffin and Strik3r and maybe me after. But I still have a lot of trouble sometimes.

But I know your question wasn't specific to BA. If it's a points game, you have a lot more flexibility in what you choose because of the points multiplier. In Terrain Control (tickets), you should choose an asset that is fast to sneak bases, get something bigger and go in groups to take heavily-fortified bases (if you have to), or defend a base in something big (BORING). If it's a tickets TSA game, uh... just try not to die too many times in expensive assets.

The only BA-related thing I haven't been able to figure out yet is how do you 'ride' mechs? I have heard other players offering giving me a lift, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to grab a hold on their mech - is it just a matter of landing on top of the mech and then being carried along? There's no key or some such thing I need to press? That being said, I enjoy playing as BA - yes I die alot, I kill very few enemies, but I damage some here and others there and buzz in and out of melees between others, dodging shots (sometimes not); it's a crapload of fun.

Keep practicing landing on mechs.  It is hilarious when you land on a Mech and they can't shake you off and won't bail to engage.  if they are separated from the pack eventually you will kill them otherwise thier own teammates have to shoot you off.

At the time I had gone through Bankruptcy (1998) and had my two pulmonary embolisms each a year apart both massive, I am lucky that I am not pushing up daisys. ( Feb.2002 and again Feb. 2003) I was awaiting Social Security Disability to be approved. My credit was down the tubes, it was all I could get from one of those buy here pay here stores that sell electronics and home furnishings. I got a little over six years out of it with out having to go in and wipe and reload the operating system which was a minor miracle in itself.

Yeah that's how I found the game actually,  was searching for an update to mw5 and stumbled onto his tutorials.

I might need to update my system for this a bit but not a biggy on that but im looking forward to playing.

My machine is an old Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (2x2.0GHz), 2GB, and an NVIDIA 8800GS. I doubt that your machine is older than mine. I have to run at the lowest detail settings\resolution, and in moderate combat the game chugs worse thank Thomas the Tank Engine going up a 25% grade. Other than that, it'll be fine.
