Skyrim
« on: October 18, 2011, 01:14:56 AM »
I just looked up four pages of the Other Gaming-Forum and there was no trace of Skyrim, so I thought I'd start a thread.

I ordered the Collector's Edition yesterday and said goodbye to much much gold and I am looking forward to taking a few days off upon Skyrim's release.

I think it'll be a blockbuster-game, though I have to admit I am afraid of the inventary and GUI that Bethesda has shown on their screenshots so far. But well, what would Bethesda games be if it weren't for the modding community? ;)

Looking forward to one thing and one thing only in Skyrim:

Pr0n mods. IN HD!

When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

There was one like when it was announced nearly a year ago made by Capper I think, called "ELDER SCROLLS VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" but if you actually searched that far back, then you're crazy

Still, really looking forward to it

That aside I'll still be playing at least 10 hours before you, running around the lands of Skyrim cooking up magic glowing beetles like a badass!

To put some actual content in this, I've got Google Alerts constantly feeding news items on Skyrim, a recent gem has come up revealing how necromancy and zombification will work: http://au.pc.gamespy.com/pc/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-collectors-edition/1200569p1.html

I'm debating whether to preorder/first day purchase like I did for Oblivion, or wait until xmas since there would probably be lots of good mods to make the game better for PC (especially if they keep that consolish inventory UI for the PC version)
Play my free open source web game MiniMek - Urbie Defense!  Its "mega fun" but with mini meks!

By Christmas, my current projects might have moved on to another important (= streesful) phase, so I'll probably take as much free time as I can in november ;)

BTW, I just found that "they" have already opened the Skyrim Nexus. Read in an interview there that the scripting language of the engine has been overhauled to allow for both more funcionality and coherence in syntax, which means that we might not even need things as the Script Extender for this game, which is great because of Steam's copy protection. Also, I've got the feeling that the usual suspects of the Elder Scrolls / Fallout modding scene are already preparing their tools (such as Mod Mangers etc).

With the improved scripting language, I might even try modding again.

Can't wait for Skyrim. Elder Scrolls games have so much content thanks to the modding scene you can enjoy new content years after release.

I just hope the spells (and now shouts) are better out of the box than in Oblivion. Drain and Boost various stats is not nearly as fun as the user made ones like Ice Wall and Force Push.

2011 has proved to be a very good year for RPG fans.

I was going to ask, but...
Ghiest: I suggest trying to control your forum torrettes with copious amounts of weed.

KingLeerUK: Right now playing puretech is like riding a bike without a seat; you're putting yourself through some unnecessary discomfort and everyone else on the trail is looking at you funny.

Bill: You're a massive gay. Let's bum.
Deathbane: Let's.
