We got the 'preview' copy in work today.  I spent the entire lunch hogging it from the other guys wanting to play it (even taking an extra 25 mins over lunch :P) I can honestly say that I'm quite impressed and will definitely get it now (wasn't a massive oblivion fan but loved Morrowind).

That sounds promising. I prefer Morrowind myself, the previews of Skyrim I've seen make it look like it has much more of that "unique" feel that MW had that OB lacked.

I'm waiting till the first sale.  59.99 is just steep and my rig almost falls into the "min spec" range.  I've got a friend with the exact same setup so I'll wait to see how it runs on his machine.

I thought it was Wednesday today, but it's only been Tuesday. Blaaaaaaargh. Mailed the shop today where I pre-ordered at. Last time I ordered there, I could pick up my package a day before release.

Bad timing though. Lots and lots of work to do.

What about steam?

That's where I'm getting it

Well Skyrim is a Steamwerks game, so everyone who buys it for PC is getting it for steam.

PC is the real platform for this game anyway for the mods. Yeah the PC version has HD textures too, but the mods... sweet glorious mods.

Exactly!  It almost makes me wanna wait a month to get it since by then there will likely be lots of good mods, but I know I'll end up getting it the day its release anyway!
Play my free open source web game MiniMek - Urbie Defense!  Its "mega fun" but with mini meks!

I'm going to do exactly what I did with Oblivion: Play through with the vanilla version. Then wait 2 years and load up all the best mods. That's when the real play through begins.  :D

Oblivion with Midas Magic, Combat Reflexes and Obscuro's Overhaul is a glorious game to behold.

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?

Just checked the online shop where I ordered my UK import version of the game and it said that it will be one week late. canceled my order and bought via Steam.

Them fappers aint going to get in the way of my weekend dragonslaying fun!  >:(
