Face it in a mech i lose an arm i lose the weapons.. if i lose a torso i lose  some weapons . i lose a leg i fall down. i lose my head  i die.

areo i lose an engine i fall .. i lose a wing i fall .. i lose my armor i die .

in a tank i lose my turret it still works 100% with all weapons , i lose my side with the treads/wheels i can still move  fully, ..Tanks are now 100% active till they die

this is a bad balance.  at least kill the weapons or lock the turret. please or make them not mobile.   :-[

it is a good idea but put in to action very badly

That's the plan. They released the new Hull system, but without the downsides in place. This may or may not have been a good idea, but we are simply testing, after all.

This part may need to be changed, every other part of the implementation I think is good, just the weapon disable should probably happen before hull is destroyed. Maybe 50% of hull?

Shit I was only using tanks today because of the price changes and to check out RAC2s.  It won't be like this forever, it really is just people checking out the changes.  Turret lock at least would be nice, but it really hasn't made tanks that much better.

Yeah for Parti Prime being a starting asset again, all the other ones are kinda poop IMO.  So I be happy.  Really is too early to worry about. ::)

I suck!! But WE are AWESOME.  We started a unit.  What's that?!  YOU WANNA TOUCH MY UNIT?!! :P ^^12thVR Recruitment Page(clickthepic) ;)

Yeah the lack of any negative effects was what I'm a bit concerned about.

While the facings go down fast (possibly too fast) the tank is full operational until the hull goes down. Which can be quite a difficult thing to do considering how tough it is atm.
Just an early opinion, we'll see how it pans out..

An alternative would be to toughen up the armour, but put in weapon disables at some % of hull left.. up to you really, either way tanks aren't 4 hit and ROFL wagons anymore.

Don't forget that the hull takes damage wih different modifiers depending on what side is broken.

Maybe the hull only feels so strong because everyone tries breaking the tank trough the turret and the modifier in turret -> hull damage is something ridiciolous like 0.5 or 0.4.

That would make the hull seem incredibly strong, even tough it would break instantly if you transfered damage there over the rear armor.

Those numbers are just speculation, I don't know the modifiers. Just an idea.
Never arm once what you could arm twice.

That's what I've been gathering based on discussion, and in which case I'm pointing and laughing at the whiners, because once again, it's no longer a case of hit the turret 4 times and rofl. Learn to shoot a side instead of the turret, the damn tank has 4 of them..

Of course most people will roll out tanks, because something has changed. People are curious about it and test it. Give it a week, and you will have the standard wave of OwnensC, Ravens mixed up with some PPCPaperis and Ullers.
Tanks have always been tough, but also slow. And terrain aint their friend.
What I still want to see are some effects once a component is destroyed.
If one track is gone, the tank cannot move, just turn slowly.
Turret gone, weapons gone (I think this is already in game, but I am not 100% certain).

The weapons used to disable when the turret died, somehow that isn't happening with the hull component in play. That's why I'm suggesting a hull % weapon disable, to simulate an internal hit.

Given how bad tanks were before, they needed a change like this. Maybe the hull component is too strong, the fact that you can't just shoot a Demo in the turret 4 times and disable it was a definate bonus.

A "you have ruined the game completely" post already, when this version hasn't even been out 24 hours.  Holy knee-jerk judgement, Batman!  Did you give any thought to the fact that with the new hull system, everybody wants to test it out and get a feel for it?

QFT.

BTW: The only thing which made me quit the mod wasn't the game itself - for sure not. It was the community. This is for sure by far the worst selfimportant and aggressive community I've ever encountered in over 15 years of online gaming. And I honestly can't understand why the team itself is going on regarding the majority of the community reactions&behaviour.

I know right!

My list of preferable sections to kill a tank; butt, sides, front, then the turret.

Has always been better in my experience, good to know about the modifiers though. Thanks Delta. :)

The multiplier for the front and turret is actually 0.9, which is still less then 1 to 1, but not much.  And while the tanks may not have all of the disadvantages we plan for, destroying the turret does actually halve the traverse speed.  And yes, destroying the turret no longer destroys the weapons due to the fact that it's impossible to hide, unlike parts of a mech's torso, and would cause issues since the hull component draws armor from the rest and it would be too easy to kill the turret.
