Changes to SSRMs
« on: October 22, 2011, 01:11:19 PM »
First, thanks for the update, most changes are really spot on and the game is much more fluid and stable, I haven't had crashes yet.

I am just a bit unhappy about changes to SSRMs, this change hurts all configurations that have SSRMs as primary weapons not just the problematic one, the Vulture.

Assuming this was done because the Vulture then my humble opinion is that changing the weapon ammo was the wrong fix because it impacted also other configurations heavily reliant on SSRMs (Owens B for example) that were perfectly fine and now have been heavily penalized.

Probably changing the Vulture and leave the others alone would have been a better idea. For example the Vulture could be changed to have a couple of CMPL instead of the CSSRM4.

I agree, especially on the Owens B.

Only changing the VB Variant is not the solution to the underlying problem though. You need to change the general balance.

What changed? I used the Owens B yesterday for the first time in a log while. Both DPS and ammo per ton seem less than I remember, but its been awhile so I'm not really sure.

meh, ammo for SRMS was never an issue, as in, I always had ammo and unless I was in something that heavily boated it was never issue, now I have the potential to run out. . . which means I have to find an APC or RTB for repairs and rearm. . .

ponders?

So What

Yeah, I was using the Thanny D yesterday and at one point I was like "what? I'm out of SRM ammo? Well, this has never happened before :-X"

I've had that happen before this patch. I think the Thanny D has the same amount of SRM ammo - 180. But Dual SRM6 = 12 shots per launch, so it eats it up fast. I always put the free ton towards LBX20 ammo and wind up running out of everything right around the same time.

I still had 7 or so LBX rounds (I usually run out at the same time for that mech and the LBX Bushy) so I though they lowered it

I may have just been because my weapon groups reset and I forgot how I had them before so I put the SRM with the lasers because I'm too used to SSRMs on everything and that may have wasted some ammo as I lasered doods at long range and the SRMs went with them

*just wrote "laser-beams" because spell check still wants to correct it to "lesbians" and I find that funny as shit ;D

Been reduced by 25%.

Obviously because of the overpowered Uller B.

No, they didn't. They only corrected a typo.

My question would be has there been an increase in APC usage then?  This could be a meta game tweak to get more people to use the APCs to help anchor lines

I've actually noticed a decrease in APC usage since I am no longer able to bribe people with a massive CBill infusion to bring me an APC.

I usually do something like "80,000 C-Bills to the first person to bring an APC to D4!" 5,000 cbills just doesn't get people motivated.  ;)
