460 here

I just got a new phenom II 6 core that can actually keep up with it, and I have about 22-60 FPS now (I'm fine with FPS down to about 16, so the lowest being 22 is a huge plus)
Anyway, it's pretty damn cheap for the performance and can overclock like a motherfapper (got mine up by 20% {even higher considering it was overclocked out of the box} at 70*C but brought it back down because I don't need the performance)

EDIT: Just in case you're wondering, I have everything maxed out besides AA

480 is a bit expensive for what it is. Would go for a 500 series if your not wanting a 460. Plus that review doesn't take in the silly amount of ocing the 460 can do, not that the 6870 is slow!

For some reason I have never been able to get a ATI cards to work on my computers.
I dont know what it is, as every time I try the drivers will either not work at all or not work properly and cause crashes and other issues.
I even had someone I know who works with these things on a daily basis look at it and even he eventually gave up getting them to work.
As a result I avoid ATI cards like the plague.

My current card however is a GeForce GTX 560Ti, also known as "Phantom", with 2 GB of ram.
The GPU isnt all of course, but still I have never seen my FPS drop below 50 even with heavy action going on the screen, and thats with all settings at max and a resolution of 1650x1080.
Though the card may still be a bit pricey depending on your budget.

This also describes my experience with them.  On paper they are excellent cards but in the real world they're plagued by buggy drivers and faulty firmware.

Take a look at the Nvidia 560 and 570 cards.  They may not be the absolute best but they'll play everything you throw at them and are very reasonably priced.

I've had the same piss poor driver support from ati as well. Most miserable year of my life using an ati graphic card. Awsome when they work, complete and utter fail when they don't.

I never found out why the drivers didn't work even after a year of trying to fix it, until I found the problem, I should of brought a nvidia graphic card. Sigh.

I'd definitely go for the 6870. But what is your budget anyway?

I've had both ATi and Nvidia cards, and, frankly I've had the most pleasurable experience with ATi cards, not to say and Nvidia cards have ever gone bad on me. Buy the better card.

The latest generation of ATi cards is competitive. 560 is Nvidias budget mid-ranger, whilst the 6870 is ATi's straight up mid-range card. I'd buy it over the 560, but not a 560Ti.
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

For £160 on overclockers.co.uk, £10 more than a 6870, you can get the 560ti. I'd go that route. The 560ti performs a bit better than the 6870, clocks much higher, and you don't have to screw around with ATI's fail drivers.

Before anyone jumps on me, I own a 460 SLI rig and another with an HD 6850, and the difference in driver stability over time has been night and day in favor of Nvidia.

I still have no idea what you people complain about when you say "driver support" and having problems with it... but that's not the topic of this thread, so, nay!

With the current ATI driver my 5770 no longer upclocks to full speed in games.  Stuff like that is what we're talking about.

Easily fixed by loading custom firmware on the card but I shouldn't have to do that.
