Just because they had the same physical GPU doesn't mean the rest of the card was designed to power it at full speed.  If the aux power plugs are different then the power architecture is also different.  Close, maybe, but the wattage difference between a 6+6pin and a 6+8pin is pretty dramatic.

desided due to funds being tighter than normal to go a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 Super Overclock 1gb card. looking at reviews it will do what I need. :D Thanks for all the advise.

Well both games need a quad core, so thats alright then. But you will find even games that aren't quad core will gain quite a bit of FPS.

New GC will help you loads more than new CPU though for the game you play now however! I'm sure your love it!

Yeah I was thinking about that but thats for another month. :D

Prob best to just save up for 2500k and a super cheap motherboard. Overclock to 4ghz, and your done. And the 2500k will last your for a long long time, compaired to a old core 2 quad core.
