The problem with voice acting is that it requires you to have both a good voice applicable to what you're doing, as well as the ability to act. That you need both of these is why most fan movies - particularly those that require a militaristic air about them - have laughably bad voice acting. Generally, the less voice acting the better unless you know people who can do it well, and have the proper equipment to record without sounding like smashed ass through a tin can and string setup.
I imagine you want to make a movie similar in scope to the old Mechwarrior intros. And not the god-awful MW2:31CC intro (EAT BULLETS, FREEBIRTH ROCKS!). My favorite Mech intro might be MechCommander 1: it shows sort of how you playing the game is commanding units around - you are the MechCommander, and how you oversee the lance of mechs fighting a MadCat. Using terrain and orders, the commander has two units run around and flank while the Raven acts as bait. When the Raven seems trapped, the tactic pays off as the Centurion and whatever the other mech was (I forget - all I remember is EJECTING EJECTING EJEEECCCTTIIIIIINGGGG) are able to punch through the squishy rear armor - tactics is the name of the game.
Runner-up would be the Mechwarrior 2 Mercs intro, specifically because it achieved exactly what it had to: The guy in the light mech has valuable recon data and is trying to escape with it - we don't know from who or why, because it doesn't matter. Shit is exploding so we know it's an action game. He's supported by a teammate who faces down the 'pissed-off Atlas', and there's an in-cockpit shot showing what to expect from the gameplay - you are a Mechwarrior. Then it all makes sense as the Commando escapes - they're mercenaries getting paid, and they're pretty ruthless. Bam - MW2: Mercs, all you need to know.
I'm not the biggest fan of the old trailer - it's some cool shots but it doesn't actually show anything. Some panning shots and a close-up of a Mk 2's crotch (if you don't know what they are, you wouldn't 'get it'). A mech steps out of the hangar and fires some missiles at something we can't see, a VTOL flies like an idiot where he has no business being, some mechs are marching underwater on a map that wasn't even made official, a cool shot on Clearcut where - again - nothing happens (but the rising out of the water effect is neat), some aircraft fly around shooting lasers that never made it into 0.1.0 on Extremity and it's all visually confusing, and then a BA acts like a thug and kicks the camera over. Super-awesome if you already know what to expect from Mechwarrior but Toxy is right, it's not exactly the kind of thing to draw players in - nothing exciting actually ever happens. I don't even remember if it makes it clear that it's a mod for Crysis (much less Crysis Wars now).
So I vote yes for a new movie, but I'm not sure if anyone has the technical ability to get it done. Going to need a lot of talent from the community, including someone good with movie effects to pull off.
