If you think you can design cockpits I dont see why you wouldn't just join the team to design cockpits?!?

Also, mirage is the desert canyon map, and fixing the occlusion bug would make AA much more useful.  No reason to redesign the map because some pilots stay low behind mountains.  Those pilots are already taking on great risk to LBX equipped assets by flying low to avoid AA.

That's all great news, Wilson.

I've seen the Extremity bug crop up a few times, and it never really bugged me until I saw a team hide in it on purpose during a match. There were several mechs on top of one of the dishes, they were invisible from the ground but able to fire PPCs and whatnot at us. I'll try to figure out exactly where it happens.

as far as cockpits. ..
Is it beyond the realm of possibility to open those , and those only to the community ? IOW , since its so manhour intensive , but you already have the <skeleton> of the cockpit in place, is that something that dedicated individuals can work on with out being part of the Dev team with all the additional responsibilities that entails?

Im sorry but MWLL will never be open in the respect of releasing our source art or code. If you are interested in contributing to the mod by all means make an application.. im not really sure what you mean by - all the additional responsibilities - in reference to the dev team, but we do have contributors that arent a part of the dev team and just "contribute" stuff, so thats an option if you only wanted to do things in a limited capacity..

The map needed to be remade because the occlusion glitch that was going on was because the whole map file (and everything connected to it) was corrupted. I've made it so the terrain is still (mostly) the same, but I took this as an opportunity to make signifigant changes to both the balance and the visual fidelity of the map - at least if progress goes as planned. I think it'll be a nice surprise for ya'll ;)

Oh nice :D,

As for mech cockpits, I'd be more than happy with basic textured polygon frames all done to the same level of detail. I think the bushwacker cockpit bugs me the most in this regard as it's just a covered with broken texturing.

But I realise your focus is on new stuff, though the attention given to the older maps is very welcome.

Btw I have to congratulate you guys on how well you optimised Inferno, it runs like a dream and is a far better map for it.

If i had skill one, i would, was asking for the community. I thought I had read that being part of the team entails weekly meetings etc. I just find it so hard to believe there are so few people with the skills or the desire to contribute. I know I m one of them , but I just figured there would be more. Not that I know what im talking about , but I figured a cockpit would be significantly easier to do than a full on asset AND I thought it would be something that could attract guys with the skills but maybe not the time to be a full on contributor.
IOW< if the thing might not EVER get done, wouldnt it be not so bad to say .. hey .. u guys, sign this, and if you can get it done great <cockpit x >>

Any ETA on the remade mirage? It is my favorite map, even with the occlusion bug :)

Oh and please, keep it as open as it is with no "death zones" around the fighting zone. I like to be able to fly so far away from the fighting sometimes...

Would love to see that "death zone" removed from all other maps as well btw...

It does.

I just find it so hard to believe there are so few people with the skills or the desire to contribute. I know I m one of them , but I just figured there would be more.

I know. Everyone just wants to want. But nobody wants to help.
Anyone can take the time to learn anything if properly motivated.
Sticks us in a pickle being so tight on resources with so few willing to help.

Not that I know what im talking about , but I figured a cockpit would be significantly easier to do than a full on asset AND I thought it would be something that could attract guys with the skills but maybe not the time to be a full on contributor.

A cockpit is not significantly easier to do than any other asset. It still needs to be Modeled, UV'd and Textured. The modeling process is exactly the same as a mech or vehicle. Both can take days, weeks or months depending on the artist's skills and schedule.

There is also no such thing as a Full-On Contributor. You're either a Contributor or a Developer. Contributors have very lax requirements for deadlines and they're usually put on pretty low-level assets that don't meet any deadline requirements.

IOW< if the thing might not EVER get done, wouldnt it be not so bad to say .. hey .. u guys, sign this, and if you can get it done great <cockpit x >>

If we just gave people tasks like that, nothing would ever get done, and if it did get done, we'd have no idea of when it would be done. Best to not leave important assets to chance. It's hard enough to give people tasks as-is and have them complete the task before just disappearing or something.

And I also want to add, that I hope that the actual heightmap of the map will still be the same, i.e. that the geometry of the hills retain their current shape. Ralux knows why ;)

You mean the "out-of-bounds" zone?  Gawd, aerojocks are dumb, so they make you where specially sized helmets too?

I say lower it a bit, it's not like a 'Mech can just keep running out of range until he is in his special place. ::) Sure some maps would make ASF less viable, but who says it needs to be 'low' on all maps.

I suck!! But WE are AWESOME.  We started a unit.  What's that?!  YOU WANNA TOUCH MY UNIT?!! :P ^^12thVR Recruitment Page(clickthepic) ;)

There are a lot of people who have never seen the BA SSRM bug because they almost never use those weapons. Well fortunately, I just saw a video of it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvjux40Vnic

A new player to MWLL. Go to 5:05. It looks to me like he only fired one missile, the one in the left tube. Now I can see the arguments:

1) He might have fired both missiles, and the right one didn't go over the bump.
Answer: Maybe, but I didn't hear a second missile streak sound.
2) All weapons fire from the center of the reticule.
Answer: His reticule was still over the bump, and this happens regardless of the surrounding terrain. It even sometimes happens in the air.
