I quite like the game, as a massive fan of bf2 (500+ hours plus on it) there are a few things I'd like to see make a return or change but that's the nature of the beast I suppose, things move on and change.

One decent squad can change the entire game, even in 64 players. Seen it happen to me. Not fun :P
Saying that on smaller games it's a real pain in the butt to win when its squad match and the enemy team know what they are doing. Man does it feel good winning though :D

Look at your strats, just because the strategy you implement doesn't work, does not mean the map sucks. The only thing I dislike, is Mortar spam from their deployment area, cheap tactic that should be punished.

Except that you can't use mortars on Metro or Peak, the two worst offenders of choke points.

I'm not surprised EA cut the support, the players got mindless. Probably thought the servers were all bots. But the sad thing was, they weren't. They were worse. Asked one in voip why they keep playing the same map, "I dunno, these are the only servers populated."

You must've played at the extreme end of the life-cycle then... I had no trouble finding plenty of servers that ran all sorts of maps, though urban maps were always popular. But that was back when we had things like commander artillery to break up any camps and the god damn maps didn't punish you for flanking.
On Seine crossing, at the western end of the map where that flag on the bridge is? Yeah, there is a ladder and stairs leading up to the Russian end of the street at the extreme western edge, tried to use it to go around the meat grinder... NOPE! Can't do that, TURN BACK SOLDIER OR BE SHOT! Are you fapping kidding me? >:(
To me I MUST play 64 man, otherwise its not BF... honestly at 16-32ish why not play CoD? It is better designed for it. Dice and EA really shouldn't have paid so much attention to CoD.
Also Taem.... why must everything turn into a generalization about the stupidity of the masses with you? :P

oh, you can use mortars.... its just not pretty :)
Profane Arbiter:
The maps are intentionally designed to be meat grinders. Unlike BF1942 (and MWLL for that matter) Dice abandoned the big open map warfare model in favor of keeping the action consolidated. They considered that a plus. I don't.
I'm enjoying the game more or less, and I think balance wise it's really very good compared to other recent FPS. The noob tube isn't nooby, the knifing works good, the jets arent absurdly overpowered as they were in BF2.
With all this said, I can say that my intensity of interest isn't really there. I'm having fun with the game, but I don't see myself playing it into the New Year. I keep holding out hope that the Battlefield franchise will return to its roots, or at least impliment something fresh. This game is BC2 with prone and jets...and I consider the BC games to be as much blasphemy compared to the prior games in the franchise, as Mechwarrior 2 for Playstation was where you could pick up floating power ups like super mario brothers. :/
This may be better than BC2, have the best balance mechanics I've seen, and have a destructible environment with gorgeous graphics...but gameplay is just not there for me.
