Personally, I'd be interested in seeing how heavy lasers would work as a continuous-fire weapon - possibly with a flamer-style gauge limiting their maximum duration, possibly without. I realise that this would make them paradoxically more precise in some circumstances, but given how X-pulse have pretty much abandoned CBT accuracy and have become a really neat weapon to use, I figure it might be worth running a similar experiment with heavy lasers. BLs I wouldn't take to a full 1.5 seconds like HLs are now - I'd probably increase their duration to somewhere between .75 and 1 second. No idea what to do with CPLs and PLs, lol.

but their refire time better be big or they really would be just XPL's if you stagger fired them

thats a cool idea though, it makes them a lot more useful. i think a flamer style overheat bar would be redundant, their heat output is already staggering. I can imagine it now, just sitting in the shadows, lazering an unsuspecting novacats arm off. wouldn't even see it coming  ;D

IMO these last two pages or so have been representative of the reason why the other topics failed. They all went off topic and became arguments to change everything all at once and just hope for the best. If you want to say that all lasers should act the same, shouldn't that be a separate topic from this LRM-centric one?

C/LRMS SHOULD STAY THE WAY THEY ARE, if buffed up a bit in speed or damage
