Sooo.. Saints Row the 3rd
« on: November 10, 2011, 04:52:58 PM »
So with all this Skyrim talk, i'm noticing  a lack of saints row talk.  I actually pre ordered it from amazon for 10 bucks off.  really looking forward to some mindless fun of the game.

I know it's going to be awesome, wonder how they'll handle progression though.

So I've been playing SR3 since yesterday and I'll say it's pretty similar to the SR2 gameplay wise (which is a good thing since there's no tutorial), though they have some really fun "set pieces" for each of the main missions.

Would I have payed the full price of $49.99-59.99 for this?  No, as a SR3 fan $39.99 is a great price, though i would suggest $29.99 for anyone else as a purchase with no regrets.

Up to and over AUD$100 for games in stores... and the AU dollar was at the last time I checked, worth more than the US dollar. Dem brick n mortar stores.

Also, Steam wants 89.99 USD from me for Skyrim. I got Devil May Cry instead.

The question is: is it a shit port like SR2 was?

"Concentrate on the moment, each moment is its own reality. It has a particular thisness. You can't predict, but you can explain. Or try. If you are observant, and lucky, you can say, this is why this is happening! It's very interesting!"

The controls feel like they were definitely made for a controller and as far as game play goes is still similar to SR2.  There's defiantly graphics options for PC tweaking and you can rebind your controls like normal.

If there was one thing I would knit pick on is that the "back to previous menu" button is escape and not right click.

But then I thought SR2 on PC was awesome.

Finished the main game and I'll say the beginning through probably 2/3 the way through, game was great.  The last 1/3 didn't seem to have the same amount of charm as the characterization of the new characters were a bit inconsistent.  Also, at that point in the game, if you did heavy investment into property, there was really no reason to do any of the extra side missions because you'd be flush with cash.

There is a split choice in the ending. I'll be honest though, if you compare the book ends, first and last missions.  The first was MUCH better.

That being said, i got a lot of entrainment out of the game and do co op with a friend who's playing it much slower since he's also playing Skyrim.
