There is only one way to populate more servers: Advertise the game, get more players. About 19 hours ago I launched my game and only saw 9 people play MWLL in total. It was afternoon here and I had never seen so few people play the mod, usually there are enough to fill up one or two servers around that time. Frightening, very frightening.
If we don't get a decent amount of players, the developers should stop wasting their time with this project.
Ye Gawds, have some faith man!
We get lots of people interested in the
Beta around patch releases, then after a few weeks it wains, this is a natural cycle (most people will only go for a bath when the water is full and hot, the
Beta tag means most folks just dip their toes in to see if it's ready yet!).
Also combine this natural attrition with what MWLL is currently competing with for player time (ie. Skyrim, BF3, A New CoD, start of Christmas season and thus less spare time etc.) and it's hardly surprising that at non-peak times there's a slump. Now add on top of that the fact that MWLL bleeds tears from most PCs, and even older gaming PCs and you could argue that MWLL has another 2-3 more years to go before most peoples hardware can handle it and we have real room for optimism.
Was on myself 9hours ago, there were 2 locked servers with about 8-10 folks each, XI was full and Huntress was running a 12 player SA game, so maybe 50 folks in total for a time when it's very late for Euro players and a little too early for the majority of US players. Hardly something we should worry about IMO.
The Devs do this for the love of mecha, so let's not demoralise the volunteers with doomsaying posts, or describing their excellent (and 100% appreciated) efforts as something they "should stop wasting their time with...", that's rude, ungrateful and insidious if you ask me Claw.
