Huge Changes for EVE Online
« on: November 19, 2011, 10:01:17 AM »
Dig this changelog for Singularity, CCP's public test server for EVE Online:
http://pastebin.com/TkY3rY6q

"No stone unturned" seems to apply here.  Seems they finally listened, and pulled enough people off of their stupid vampire game to get some things done.  Based on the things I saw on this list, and some quick calculations using EFT as a base, I think I could actually roll just about any combat ship in the game and be at least reasonably effective.  Seriously.  Gameplay will tell, but this has potential for awesome.

Also, T3 Battlecruisers are coming, one for each faction, and they look pretty cool, too.

Oh, and some extra racial quarters or something like that for the walking-in-stations crap, but you are still stuck in your quarters, so nobody really cares.

Yay for pictures! \o/

Yeah, lets hope that it's a useful rail/blaster boat on the caldari side. Ferrox is good for lulz but not much else. Well.. Bait, but there are even better ships for that.

Agreed...the Prophecy is bait that lasts longer under fire, lol.  And it can actually put out half-decent DPS if you need it to do so.

That said, with the changes to the railguns and the ship itself, the Ferox may not be so lulzy anymore...that is going to be...weird, lol.

Nothing beats my navy Auguror for bait though. That thing is so lol. Packs a full load of 220 autos, and can chip away at people pretty good, even frigates since it has web and tracking comp with a T2 disruptor.

The real beef with it though... is when it's shields drop, and you hit it's armor, and the bar doesn't really move. Not discernably at least. Small cruiser sig radius with 80+k EHP... Priceless. I've caused some funny rage on gates with that thing.

I haven't played EVE in a few years, a few months after they introduced Faction Warfare if I recall. Maybe over the holidays I'll see what's been going on. I think I last logged on with my character training Minmatar Carrier 4...

Come to think of it, one of my favorite features of EVE was the slot/crit type layout of weapons similar to MechWarrior and never knowing what your opponent was going to have loaded.

I found out about MWLL in EVE =).

Doubt anything could get me to go back, but I would consider playing EVE 2 if the make it.

I really enjoyed the cutthroat nature of the game, other MMOs are way too carebear for me.  If I kill someone I want to steal all their gear, not give them a 30 second run back to their corpse with absolutely no other penalties involved.  This is probably because UO was my first MMO, and you could steal entire houses in that game if the mark was stupid enough.

This.  The fitting system is what keeps me coming back to EVE.  I can quit for a couple months, only to start thinking about if a certain fit would work...then I download EFT and try it...and end up resubbing so I can see how well it would work in-game.

Also, for some lulz: I was running a level 4 mission the other night to revitalize my wallet, and someone in a Heron came into my mission to do some ninja looting/salvaging.  He was an idiot, though, and did not wait until the NPC's were dead; he was targetted, pinned, and popped by a group of 6 Serpentis ships that had not engaged me yet, including 2 Atrons, 2 Brutixes, a Dominix, and a Megathron, lol.

I like to use artillery in missions, since I can one-shot so many NPC's; this generally leads to one-shotting ninja-looters as well, the moment they light up on the aggro counter.  ;D

Oh, another thing I think will be cool: they ditched the fire rate nerf that all the destroyers had.  Those things are going to be a lot more fun/useful now.

I used to run an XL booster Mael with a full rack of T2 1400's for my mission ship. God that thing was silly.

I finally bought myself a rattlesnake though, used more of the skills I had trained up in my trek to carrier piloting. Besides, it's just too damn sexy NOT to own one. I even bought a phantasm, fitted it for gank and lol'd as shit melted. Used it for ninja ratting and lolkills.

If all these changes go live, I'll resub and give the game another try.

If they blow it again and very few/none of the patched changes go live or something... then EVE is dead to me.

minus the eve being dead to me part i agree here i hope this goes live soonish.

Also i have been reading up on the even novels and am anticipating DUST 514. I ll be reading the book templar ONE as soon as i can get my hands on it. Since i have GOT to know how they allowed the mind backup program to work on ground troops.

The changes are set in stone at this point, and they are going live in 3 days.

Also, if you are subbed at that time, you get a free implant.

Well, in addition to the stuff above, some other stuff: repainted Gallente and Caldari ships.  Nearly all of them.  And the Phobos has these little gravity well generator things on it that look cool as hell.  The Raven's model has actually been redone, but is still the ugly, lop-sided bastard it always was.  The best part though: optimizations.  Not only does the captain's quarters bit actually run well, but the whole game runs A LOT better.  There is less delay between systems when jumping, and even between your hangar and space when you undock.  Engine trails are also back.  Space also looks very beautiful now, with the new nebulae...but it is very, VERY dark; do not expect to see your ships as bright as they used to be.  The first time I undocked, I felt like Ray Charles.

As for the interface...the font has finally been changed to something readable, you can right click on a distant jump gate and select 'jump', just like a docking command, and you can also use that command with 'scoop to cargo bay'.  There is a 'loot all' button now, too.

Oh, and they replaced 'warp' with 'acid trip'.  It is really awesome, and when you pass through a planet, it is like going through a tunnel, just like the fluff says it should be.  ;D

Anyway...this is what I have seen in 30 minutes.
