Oh, those big ones are a lot of fun. I have fond memories of the battles for the inner sphere!

Something to note though, 5 rounds of a mixed 14 vs. 14 will take a lot of time. Slight bugs, some player error, someone buying the wrong thing, someone getting squished by the hanger doors, someone getting stepped on, someone's connection dropping. All these little things.... they get more likely to happen the more people you have. Comms are another issue to think of in advance, how will you handle the 3 or so involved units. If they are all in one big room, expect some chaos (which takes time).

I do believe I speak for a sizeable amount of the EU people when I say that those times... may be problematic. If it starts at 5pm EST that may work. A later start.. will face time problems most likely with a 5 rounds system. 6pm EST is midnight in central EU time, and this being a Sunday (meaning work the next day) people can often not stay terribly long. Perhaps the latest end time would be around 8pm EST. If you have 5 rounds and count 20 minutes a round (a reasonable guesstimate, might be even a bit optimistic considering 3 units per side involved) means a match starting at 6 pm EST would end 7:40 pm EST. That is with no more problems then a 5v5 might encounter. So...  definitely do not want to start later then 6pm EST if you want EU players around I say.

/Merf - Some input...

Or spread it out? Could still have 5 rounds to decide it all, but open up for letting it go to another weekend.
Longer sessions makes for irritable players. Especially if one have a bad run with the "surrounding" stuff (derpy people, DCs, a bug, etc). I would recommend having a set time frame and if it starts to near the end of the allotted time then move remaining rounds to next weekend or something.

/Merf - Big scrims like these can be a load of fun!

Preplanned drop lists would have to be an absolute must... it takes KoS 15 minutes of talking about shit and derping around to pick for 5 men much less 14.

We could start earlier on Saturday if enough people could make it. This coming Saturday is the one I can actually make for the next month.

If still Sunday we could even try 4 PM EST.. but that is pushing the devmeeting/alphatest time.

3-4PM EST this Saturday perhaps?

How about mixing the teams up a bit? As in we just get a pool of 28 players and allocate randomly/do team captain chooses. I think it'd be good to have a laugh together as the competitive guys who still don't really know each other that well even if we've been playing against each other for 12 months +

Thoughts?

Eh, I would refer to what Invictus said about premade droplists. Mixing teams up is fun, but drop-commanders and lists should in my opinion be set well in advance, just to cut down on the derp =)

This sounds like a lot of fun. Previous big battles have been a blast.
I also think that the captains and teams should be set before the match to help speed up the process. Otherwise it could take hours to complete.
