STALKER seems so close to Fallout franchise, I'd wonder if Bethesda would even bother.


That said I'm ok with that, I loved STALKER and generally enjoy the bethesda games.

Thank whatever deity you offer praise to that that didn't happen. I can't imagine anything failing up Stalker harder than the Bethesda level/talent point crap.. Even if they made it "properly" it'd be so goddamn buggy it'd make the originals (made by some guys in the Ukraine in a garage(ok it wasn't a garage)) look like AAA polish was applied twice.

Don't let the rose tint hit you in the ass, stalker when it was first released was bug ridding to fapp, at least on my machine back in the day.  Personally I was never a fan of it but at least was making the effort to be totally different from anything out there at the time.

This.  When compared to Bethesda games, STALKER was on a whole new level of bugginess.

I never had any issues with the first STALKER before I patched it.
I once saw a guy walking around with his torso on backwards, but that was it.

I played close to 200 hours of SoC on the base version (no patches) with perhaps 1-2 crashes. 1.00005 SoC pretty much never crashes either, yet I can't get Oblivion with the patch to last more than 2 hours without a crash. What was that about rose tinted glasses?

Clear Sky, however.... that was buggy no matter what you did with it. Call of Pripyat was (aside from almost always crashing when changing zones, but reloading the game, and reloading the save fixed it and put you in the area you were trying to travel to) pretty much bug-free.

The thing about S.T.A.L.K.E.R though is that... are those really bugs... or is that the waste making its mark on your brain fellow S.T.A.L.K.E.R....
