Terrain Control = boring
« on: December 19, 2011, 05:59:58 PM »
I've been away for a year.

Terrain Control has made Thunder Rift map much more interesting but for the other maps like Sandblasted and especially Marshes... they are kind of "humho". I miss the Armageddon on the battlefield. Now the game is an individual mech or mechs scrapping over repair bays?

I like all of the other game changes such as: air-to-air being viable; air superiority being toned down; the new tanks, mechs and the pricing changes; credit transfers being limited; the BA HUD; the individual solaris arena.

Terrain Control = boring
NO. ;)

Anyway, what is the point of this thread? So you do not like TC. Big whoop. You are not the first, neither would you be the first if you said you do not like TSA or SA.

I also depends on the setting for the TC map.  I find most servers have too many tickets and the time is too long. 300-400 tickets is just about prefect before it get slogged down.

Many of the well designed TC maps will value speed and flanking to straight on overwhelming battlefield strength.

TC is pretty mediocre on some maps.

It's a helluva lot better than TSA, though. Sorry, but after playing fapping TSA_Sandblasted for so long, I want to slap admins that put it up.

"Concentrate on the moment, each moment is its own reality. It has a particular thisness. You can't predict, but you can explain. Or try. If you are observant, and lucky, you can say, this is why this is happening! It's very interesting!"

Fortunately, Huntress and XI have TC maps in their rotation currently.

Huntress... the server that I boycotted because no one on the server could stand toe to toe against me in a beatstick? The best they could come up with is hit and runs in light mechs, so I legged them. A mechwarrior server with a "no legging" policy  ::)

Huntress there's a game out there for you:

You don't like the rules? Leave the server. GG on posting that you violated the rules willfully. Not like the SJ admins don't frequent the boards. The no legging rule is to promote mechs being cored, instead of legged.

MrAgmoose: mind telling us your in-game name?

Oh, and you might want to take into account the fact that some people here have VERY LITTLE PATIENCE for fools and assholes. Take this as you will.

Lastly, you obviously haven't had a proper scrap on Deathvalley. That map regularly sees some of the most intense and tactical play in public matches.
Beware of programmers who carry screwdrivers, lockpicks and flamethrowers.

Anyway semi-on-topic:

The only map more boring than TSA_Sandblasted is TC_Sandblasted. God, that map just does not work in TC, especially when the center base has those obnoxious turrets. Forget doing anything useful in an air asset!

I actually like TC_Sandblasted.  >:(. It keeps most of the fighting to the center of the map as a bigass brawl, but snipers can still turn the tide of battle.

TC does suffer when there isn't enough people (depends on the map). It turns into each team racing to capture objectives with very little fighting. But that's really just the basic problem of TC: Defending is boring and is unprofitable. WAY too many times I've bought a big slow asset planning on defending a base, and I wait 15 minutes before anyone shows up to challenge it. But I still like TC more than TSA.
