If you hate legging so much why not petition the devs to create a server setting that makes legs invulnerable?

Because nothing would ever come of it.

Mitch iirc it is not SJ whining about legging, it is players whining to the SJ server admins.  Most SJ have little to no problems in legging

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?

My apologies, then.  I figured the admins were the ones behind it.

It's always a pleasant thing to see admins enforcing rules they don't necessarily agree with to accomodate the community.  That's very rare these days.

It reminds me of mortars being banned in BF3 so everyone can camp rooftops as snipers.

What? Really?

Exactly. It happens in every game.  In Modern Warfare it's "Grenade Launchers". If Rock-Paper-Scissors was a video game PAPER would be banned by some admins. "Stupid newbie paper covering my rock!"

Of course, I got legged twice on huntress last night. Damn you Fafnir's, learn to aim.  ;D

Railgun.

Merf, can you confirm that damaging a leg until it is crippled but not destroyed is allowed on huntress?

Ignoring the fact that the internal structure changes on legs will completly solve most of the problems with legging. Can't wait :P

Railgun.

There is no railgun in Quake...

You refer to one of the numbered sequels I am sure. Even in those I have never played on a server that banned the use of the railgun. I am however one of those that advocate it ruined the gameplay quite a bit. Not as in being overpowered but as in doing the game mechanics a disservice, but never encountered a weapon ban. There are however rather popular mods that make the game railgun only....

I can not. I suggest speaking to our administrator Zathrus, and/or posting on our forums at www.clansmokejaguar.com.

/Merf - The quad-damage on the other hand.. but that is a server setting so...

Server rules on the forum indicate that even crippling a leg is considered an intentional legging.  I'm assuming "gimp" means movement is slowed to a hobble.

Specifically going after mech leg only, resulting in a gimp or the leg coming off

So I did what came naturally and shot his right leg into the red (Didnt knock him over, i do respect the Jaguars ruleset and try not to leave 'fish out of water'

further derail.
Well , it seems like you are a "natural legger" Why? because I met you on the battlefield iirc with both of us in pristine mechs me trying out a cougar for I think the second time ever and you in a scat. Lo and behold all two or three of your shots right at my leg. oH .. and you left me there till you finally came back because I managed to get a few shots at you. So , you may be better than me, but ill enjoy always aiming for your arms. I dont care about K/D

Love your tactics. I plan on teaching my son to just kick everyone in the balls right from the get go if he gets in a fight. Its so effective.
Everyone will really love him.
p.s.
this wasnt on huntress btw, and it was solaris.

No need to be bitter. This was on an SA game, where anything goes if i remember rightly. Yes, im a natural legger, when it suits my purposes of putting people down quickly or slowing down faster assets so i can get closer with my close quarter weapons. This is simply because I don't see a need of gimping myself from using a valid game mechanic when its necessary.

I can't remember the exact instance so i cant really say anything further on that lol.

If you think that will win your son fights in real life, then its your duty to teach him it, or he ll just get kicked in the balls first by someone else. Its a bit of a irrelevent statement in regards to MWLL though which is purely a game. I dont go round doing nothing but 'leg like a baws' or whatever it is your trying to insinuate.

I play this game to have fun, not to necessarily be loved by the community. Hey that would be a plus too, but its all so serious around here nowadays I dont let it get to me. I like seeing you guys on the field.

Honestly, i doubt if our new legging system will stop people complaining. Like mitch and them have already stated, its being going on what now? 14 years at least? As long as i've played, and i was 7 when i first logged online in Mech2...

Back on topic: Get TC_Marshes back in the server rotations for great justice - it should be fixed up fine to run now, and would be great to get some hours put on it to see if the fix is holding up. (Should do, was a buggy particle effect for those who havnt heard and its been changed).
