0.5.4 Poor performance?
« on: December 21, 2011, 04:50:57 PM »
Right so either my PC has buggered up again or 0.5.4 has ruined my fps. I watched two mechs brawling in spectator mode and my fps hit 9....yes 9fps.....

I just played on marshes and my fps was about 20 average outside the hanger, 40-50 if I got lucky and any combat and it was 8-10fps.

Tried thunder rift, and fps was hovering around 30-40 in combat dropping to 10-15fps...

Now in SA yesterday I wasn't experiancing such poor fps, except in combat.

Now, MWLL has never run brilliantly, but in 0.5.3 it ran pretty good and now in the hanger im getting 50% less fps and 20%+ hit outside the hanger and combat is nearing slideshow...

Oh and I've crashed twice already, if any of the devs can check to see if anything suspicious (hardware!?) is in the reports I would be much appreciated.

I'm going to disable my OC and try MWLL just so I know 100% it isn't the OC. OC been tested to be stable but MWLL does funny things :P

was there any difference in the number of people that were playing perhaps?  Because I know my FPS starts to dive once it gets over 24 players or so

I removed my CPU OC. I got 1fps outside the hanger....10fps while spectating. WTF IS GOING ON!!!

Why am I getting <10fps with a stock 2500k with two GTX580 playing MWLL on max settings 1920x1200.

I get more than triple the FPS Ocing my CPU to 4.6ghz..........

So my CPU is getting RAPED

And this is ONLY since 0.5.4!! Nothing has changed I played it the day before the new update and everything was fine!

No, but I will give that a try! But er, how do you disable them? Since I have never enabled or disabled them before.

MWLL.Launcher > Advanced options > Enable Debug mode

Though if that never has been switched on I do not see that as the cause of a drop in FPS.

Try removing your autoexec.cfg and compare the difference when running on default settings vs. customized for a start.

I haven't changed anything in the cfg for ages. But I'll try. I know when I very first made it up, it made a pretty big difference.

I read that 0.5.4 has the debug mode on by default now.  But yes try a default cfg file. I removed mine and went with the default back in 0.5.3 and everything felt smoother (not to mention looked better imo).

I enabled then disabled it in the launcher (Since it was already enabled) and I went from 1fps to 120fps. So yes the debugging tool needs to be debugged because that is some serious issue there. (This was still running CPU on stock!)

I would like to mention the OC makes the game run so much smoother...FPS isn't that different however.

I would like to help fix this issue since I have been crashing in MWLL a bit too often thus I want the DLL enabled!

At least I can go back to playing MWLL without a slideshow. I wonder why the debugging was maxing my CPU so badly the game couldn't run?

Debug modes on most games cause FPS plummets.

We are talking 1fps to over 100fps. That's a pretty steep plummet if I might say so.

Yeah usually it's 25-33%.  99% is kinda odd...

This *IS* Crysis we're talking about, though ;)

This is something I've noticed too. I have an i7 920 OC'd to 3.81 GHz (couldn't stay at 4.20 GHz because of extreme heat issues, talking GPU levels of heat lol). But, when using stock clocks, it's like Crysis runs in slow motion. I don't mean that figuratively either, framerates are a consistant 50 FPS, but just in slow motion at 2.8 GHz. For me, that point of high, reliable 80-90 FPS starts at 3.8 GHz with an ample voltage boost. Strangely though, I've never noticed a difference in FPS rather debugging is enabled or not, and that's the same with or without an overclock. Something about your background programs isn't liking data going back and forth to those debug reports. Anti-virus maybe?

How often do you clear your shaders? I do it every week.

Have you seen a rise in temps on gpu and/or cpu? HWmonitor is a good program to use. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Can you see if anything is running that shouldn't be? This has happened to me in the past and killed my performance till I found the culprit and took care of it.

Sleepy dude, you really need to take everything apart and then do a fresh install.

You seem to have a lot of instability with performance etc. I have been there in the past, and a full strip/rebuild was the only thing to fix it.
