 - I hope it's just the "ooh, shiny!" factor of the new kids on the block (though I suspect not), but I haven't seen hide nor hair of an Atlas, Awesome, or Mauler all week. Mk. IIs have become an endangered species as well. My theory is that the better weapon systems on the Asp and Fafnir completely obviate the older mechs, and I have a feeling that's a costing issue more than anything else. I recall game chatter mentioning that there were price hikes coming up for the two new boys. Can anyone confirm (or link)?

I actually had much fun in a Mauler on Marshes killing other heavies and assaults. the other team had one or two Fafnirs going and boy are they easy to shoot at! sure they can alpha-kill most other mechs instantly, but with minimum team play they are toast.

something must have been changed on marshes, that was the first time i had real fun on that map.

That's a bug.  If we knew about it, we would have fixed it, not told you about it.
Leer implied that he was aware that it existed before the patch went live. If I misread his post, I apologize.

Quote
Not a damn thing changed about their handling/movement parameters, i checked the log.
Maybe it's all in my head, then. Did handling change for any other assets that you know of?

Quote
No, though i believe they are frame-dependent.
Well, that explains that.

Quote
Yes, we know they are, and we're going to work on it, there is (and was) just some more important stuff to deal with.
Thank you. I know things like that are low priority--that's fine. It's nothing even close to a gamebreaker, just an annoyance. I've been yapping about this one for six months; thank you for taking the ten seconds to respond that nobody else was willing to.

Quote
I'll have a look at that, it might be a bug in the repair code.
Given all of the other issues I'm having that are apparently unique, it wouldn't surprise me if it was on my end. I've had repair times stutter before, for no apparent reason, but never just stop.

I also may have had the same issue happen to a Catapult Prime on TC Mirage. I can't confirm that yet, though.

Since the Bushy is my alltime favorite, I can attest to that. Nothing about the Bushy has changed in terms of overall handling. Actually, I have been outmaneuvered by Thors/Lokis before this patch came out quite often, so it's not a new 'issue'.
No, it's not. It just feels worse now than in previous patches.

At this point I'm willing to chalk it up to same as X-Pulses and RACs: framerate. I'll dump my setting to low tomorrow and see if it makes a difference.

Quote
@ devs
Is that intended or a design oversight? I must admit it feels weird.
I hope it's somewhere in their "to do" pile, rather than their "feature, not bug" pile. If so, I imagine it's not a high priority.

I vaguely recall something about mech geometry determining maneuverability (kind of like how the Puma's "shell" clips into its legs and knocks it down to half throttle), and a tetchy comment from a dev that amounted to"that's how it is, get over it", I believe in reference to the ginormous blind spot under the Mk. II's chin. Take that as you will.

I actually had much fun in a Mauler on Marshes killing other heavies and assaults. the other team had one or two Fafnirs going and boy are they easy to shoot at! sure they can alpha-kill most other mechs instantly, but with minimum team play they are toast.
That's true of any Assault, and that's as it should be. At least of the games I've been in this week, though, Fafs and Blood Asps is all I see.

Sounds to me like you got lucky.

That said, I've noticed that every time a new asset gets added, it changes the dynamic of gameplay overall slightly. The effect of the Asp and Fafnir on some maps appears to be mostly positive (Death Valley), and on others quite negative (Mirage, Thunder Rift). I haven't played TC Marshes enough this patch to have a feel for it yet.
If you get killed, try to scream a lot. That way I'll know I'm on my own.

A Note:
There's a difference between constructive feedback and positive feedback. I will attempt the former, but until and unless there is a rule instituted that requires all feedback to be positive, I'm under no obligation to be nice. If you do something that sucks, I will tell you it sucks, and why, and mincing words or stroking egos over it only slows us both down.

The new mk ii D a welcome variant. I did like the old one but this new one is very good.

meh I liked the old old Mrk II D but alas it only had a short appearance >:(

I did too but the ATM's were nerfed.

Before they were nerfed i was getting 45/0 on a regular basis.

The new D probably outputs more damage vs the nerfed ATM variant.

ooh I talked about the D variant with 2xCGauss and 2xCHLL (which I called Gabriel) which only appeared shortly in 0.4.3 ;D The version you refer to with 2xATM12, 2xCERLBL, 4xCHSL, introduced in 0.4.4, a more diverse addition for sure and was less susceptible to the heat issues that Gabriel had hnn one Alpha from that one and you where ready to shut down, two alphas in a row and the angels began to sing whilst you rocketed towards the heavens from the nuclear explosion :D

There is a radio station i listen to that plays this and i'll never listen to it the same because of that post

Sometimes when a server's lagging bad and really needs a restart, repairing and just buying ammo becomes either impossible or takes ages
This may have been the issue

I've only played a little so far but I like what you did to heavy lasers and LRMs. The LRM+HLL Madcat feels very good now.

PRO: The two new mechs are just scary good
The Uziel is now worth buying. I actually got some kills with it against lights, mediums and even an assault (took a while).

CONs: None (just waiting in anticipation for 0.5.5.....and eventually 1.0)

Might be. I've seen it on XI, Huntress, one of the TLL Matchboxes, and MWBU Public, both in crowded games, and in very low-pop games (like, one-on-one).

Haven't had any problems buying ammo.

Yep many good points raised already - quick recap of ones I agree with:

-Uziel change - I had a decent run with the NARC variant, even traversed a frew firing lanes on Mirage in the thing and noticed people missing. As in, not hitting me when they shot. I know thats hard to picture but just go with it.

-Heavy lasers - My love affair with teh scalpel and Summoner B continues to heat up. Its now gone from 'simmering' to 'steamy'. Its not so much the damage increase, but the heat decrease that I feel is the best change (most noticeable from my PoV).

-Harrasser - seems devs are well aware of this. The flameasser is EFFING driving me nuts, ssrm6 variant a close second.

-Faf and Asp are BRILLIANT although I think theres general agreement that they do need a cost increase - I would suggest quite a steep one actually, something in the ballpark of 30% perhaps?

-LRMs and pulse lasers - yes, yes and yes. Pulse laser changes especially. I took a maddog P out for a spin on marshes and that was some good, wholesome fun. I think the CLPL could run a little hot and the CMPL a touch too cool, but thats a minor complaint and a tough balancing act - overall I'm v happy.

-Where is that snow map that we saw in the pre-release screenies?

-Speaking of th pre-release buildup: hats off to the team! I thought it was great fun and the amount of forum traffic it generated was a good thing. It was also the first 'marketing campaign' for a video game that got me 'kid in candy store' excited in years!

I have not even seen a Harrasser in a game since 0.5.4 so I cannot list it as a con. My play time is extremely limited so therefore I will leave that as a CON for you to list.

Fafnir is goddamn insane haha finally found some players and basically struggled to try and kill a faf but no matter what mech i picked nothing could compare to the punches a faffy can throw. The best thing was trying to run in an uziel haha damn thing was keeping pace with me.

I eventually just got in an harasser and capped bases being invincible which was awesome and hilarious.

First off, to all the people complaining they dont see any other assaults.. Its been a week since release, of course everyone wants to try out the new mechs! In a couple of weeks it will balance out again. Personally ive seen plenty other assauots on the field, but virutally no aeros. Im curious how the new mechs handle those fbombs.

I absolutley love the new mechs. Agreed they are a bit underpriced, but the variants are so awesome it makes me want to burst from joy. The 4x Lgauss faffy is one of my favourites, anything within 1200m is cowering in fear. Those things are accurate and deadly. And the sound you hear whn a gauss bullet hits your mech makes them even more terrifying :)

The game feels and plays great. Excellent job, team! Thumbs up for another superb release, looking forward to seeing what else is in the works. Thank you very much for your continuing efforts!
