The Clan characters not using contractions. More enhanced imaging. Then, perfection!

I thought it was pretty funny that enough people  watched it that they made Adam Stiener part of the BT lore.

Thats what they get for attacking his home planet.

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?

They should have attacked every sector (bar one) at once instead.

I assume most of you have watched this and likely have mixed feelings about it.

I think it's pretty good and for a kid's show gives a pretty decent representation of the BT universe. The hero aspect is a little bit cheesy, but there were a lot of heroes about at this point.

Still it's canon, which is fairly hilarious.

Enjoy it/or don't?!

It's not quite cannon
In universe the series it self is a poorly reviewed holovid based of the real exploits
Though here's the known fates of the cast (AFAIK)
Adam Steiner: Became Archon of the Lyran Alliance around 3073
Rachel Specter: served as Adams Aid de camp for much of the intervening time
Zachary “Hawk” Hawkins: liaison for the Star Seeds mercenary unit
Katiara Kylie: Last seen commanding the 14 Donegal's Aerospace unit (It's not known what happened to her after the fed com civil war)
Franklin Sakamoto: Commands the Otomo Battle Armor infantry battalion (currently MIA) taken captive by the black dragon during their revolt in 3068 (and is likely dead at this point). Also has a cameo in the book Black Dragon.
Kristen Redmond: ended up commanding a training sibko -has a cameo in one of the books talking to Martha pryde on Coventry (operation Audacity chapter 1), she is also mentioned in the jade falcon source book (as having turned 60 in 3052, and in command of the 94th strike cluster)
Nikolai Malthus: MIA presumed dead -though his thor was found to be in use in the 3130s (it's not known what happened to him)
Pytor: turned into a vegetable (EI dose that to you) -he has a cameo in one of the books (I am jade falcon, chapter 20)
As for Ciro no one knows (though it's rumored hes the same Ciro in Lethal Heritage -chapter 2, one of Victors class mates)

Dr. Nakamura was last seen in 3067 while on tour, supposedly having written a book (Note I do not know where I found the info on her, this is vexing me).
Captain Frestadt: was likely killed some time after 3050, due to his connections with the black dragons, his daughter Marissa Frestadt underwent 7 years of background checks to show she was not her father (notable pilot of the Mauler).

Yeah i dont know what the fans expected of a 90's childrens cartoon.

The amount of lore, and downright awesomeness considering its a kids cartoon is pretty boss.

I missed it all those years ago, but i sat down recently and watched it from start to finish.

I liked it  :o
You have to understand the code of duty and honor that rules those who pilot these engines of destruction. Placing such an awesome weapon in the hands of an individual implies a similar gesture of trust

There's surprisingly much done right in the show. Considering what it might have been in the worst-case scenario, and that lore could have been ignored altogether... well, it's infinitely more faithful to the lore than e.g. G.I. Joe (any iteration thereof) was to the comics, and doesn't even have silly public service announcements (or too overt "lessons learned" every episode).

People dying left, right and center is not really to be even expected from a Saturday morning cartoon, and wishing for an adult-oriented animated series in the 90s outside Japan would have been stretching it. Only real letdown are the CGI fighting scenes, really. Traditional animation would have looked so much better (and would have probably allowed more dynamic and BT-like combat instead of standing still most of the time).

Hey, and it's also better than what Wing Commander fans got with the Wing Commander: Academy! :P

Waiting for the high budget HBO produced live action series.

Will never happen because it would be too epic for the human mind to survive the first episode.

Well, I never believed they would go ahead and produce Game of Thrones either, so anything appear to be possible, only extremely unlikely. A passionate BT fanatic would be required for a showrunner, first pushing the idea through with the finance and marketing guys, and after greenlighting fighting them and the studio heads who would want most likely to "streamline" the story and the universe to be more easily approachable for mainstream audiences.

I would lie if I said I would not want to see at least the "main story" to be adapted, but an original story - set eg. late in the Third Succession War for simpliicty (no Clans, no suddenly appearing new states like Rasalhague and St. Ives) - could be easier: you wouldn't have to have a WTFHUEG cast, who would have to be "aged" or recasted between seasons. Bonus would be that even grizzled veterans could be surprised by the twists and turns of the plot (instead of knowing it all beforehand).

Third Succession War would be pretty gritty too, which is something we'd need to kick off the BT universe in a series.

Question is, focus entirely on mech combat, or do the little bit of everything you see in the BT Universe? From Pirates to smugglers, Soldiers to merchants, and all the political intrigue that makes BT what it is? The latter would be hard to pull off and keep ratings, but epic if they did.

It should focus mainly on the pilots, with occasionally awesome battlemech combat scenes.

Without a good narrative around characters first, and battlemechs second, it would probably end up being terrible.
