kill reporting
« on: December 28, 2011, 08:03:13 PM »
Is there a reported bug for incorrectly reported kills?

I was on huntress playing a new map called TSA_CanyonPro. I was in the Owens C and I killed Redherring and didn't get the credit for it.  I know I killed him as there were only two of us fighting on the whole map. In fact red Herring wasn't credited with being killed, i was credited with being killed. At that point I had only been killed once by Redherring but being killed twice was being reported.  I was making rank and getting Cbills but not the credit for my kill.

I have seen this happen to me on TSA_Marshes, TSA_Sandblasted, and TSA_Mirage but I couldn't be sure that someone else had made the kill. I have been in different mechs when it happens. It randomly happens when it does happen.

I am positive he didn't eject.  I mentioned it to him and he was just as confused as I was.

Possible forfeits of kill credits:
- server glitch/lag
- client latency/connection
- target overheats forfeiting your credited kill?
- stealing the kill?

A more precise repro?

I can't reproduce this. It is completely random. I have had many games since and killed at least once in each game.

The one time i know it happened I received Cbills for the kill so I don't think it was server glitch, client glitch, overheat, or kill steal. It was a one on one duel scenario. It was the way the kill was tallied wrong by both clients and the server.
