With this build I'm guessing a solid 50+ constant frames in multiplayer with all high settings. I didn't play crysis sp, so I'm comparing it with my pc and performance online.

The 9600's are the recently release mid-range.  Nothing too fancy.  I am waiting for the big boys to show up to see how they stack up against Crysis.

Same here. I hope they have something like the first 8800 GTS editions planned for the 9800 as well. That's what's next on my shopping list.

If you ever buy a Rosewill PSU, I will lose all respect for your hardware knowledge.

They are complete and utter shit. Enough said.


Why anyone would spend $600, $800, $1500, whatever, and then go and buy a shitty PSU that's going to either A) Kill itself B) Kill other components or C) Kill itself AND other components, makes absolutely no sense.


Other than that, it seems to be a pretty good rig. You are better off with an E6750 and a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L though.

This is a fast PC, but above 1280x1024 crysis brings it to its knees. Even with a Q6600 Quad core @ 3.6ghz (my old proc). It runs smoother on the dual core.

I just ordered a 9600GT myself.  It should be here today, so I was gonna give it nice test-drive my from my old X1900GT :D

On most benchmarks, the 9600GT was actually getting similar (although still alittle lower) performance to the 8800GT, for about $50 cheaper.  On most resolutions it was getting like, 5-10 FPS slower than the 8800GT on average, but still decently above 30 FPS in Crysis at high settings.

Never buy a factory overclocked card, unless it comes with a nice bundle or something.

The most cost effective thing to do is to buy the cheapest, stock clocked version and overclock it yourself.

The only thing you need to watch for are the warranties. Not all companies like it when you overclock. EVGA is one company that WILL cover your card, no matter what you do in terms of overclocking. I'm fairly certain Sapphire is the same way.

Not when the warranty already covers you for overclocking, hence why I recommend EVGA for Nvidia cards. 

You can kill it yourself due to overclocking, they will cover it. For other manufacturers, you are correct however.


What make is your power supply? Model number?

Also, if you intend to overclock, don't open that RAM. It can be incredibly difficult to OC 4x1GB sticks no matter what the make or model. Most motherboards simply won't do it or are unstable. You are far better off buying 2x2GB sticks. Nvidia chipsets especially seem to have issues. Case in point: http://www.overclock.net/intel-motherboards/292253-780i-4x1gb-problems.html    This is just one of hundreds of similar threads that come up after a quick Google search.
