Post your Medium Mech suggestions!
« on: December 31, 2011, 02:31:11 PM »
We have allot of heavy and assault mechs, and lights have their fair share of variety too,
however, we only have 4 mediums, one of which is an upgraded light (hollander)
so, which mech would you like to see supplement the medium circuit in MWLL?

personally, if we can upgrade the Hollander, why not downgrade the Dragon? or grand dragon? I mean its already just a 60 ton mech with a ridiculously weak armament, 1xlrm10, 1x AC5 and 2x MBLs 10 tons armor, 86km/h? that's a quick, cheap Medium right there. I can barely believe its classified as heavy...
also, unlike most BT designs, it actually has potential to look awesome.
It's old, thus cheap, and could be the brawler which the IS desperately needs. (the only real brawler is the Scat.)

another option would be the conjurer.

what would you like?

The bushwacker A, D, and E variants, PPC Uziel, and UAC20 Holly would like to have a word with you. The IS is currently well off on the medium class. Clan is the side desperately needing more medium mech variety.

The Bushwacker A might be the best brawler that doesn't mount dual uac20 in the game... what on earth are you talking about?

The upgraded MWLL Hollander is the canon Hollander II:
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Hollander
Read the BZK-F5 and F7 variant descriptions.

There are no canon downgrades of the Dragon or Grand Dragon and I doubt the devs would use a non-canon downgrade when there's plenty of usable canon Mediums to choose from.

which the IS desperately needs.

WTF?! Seriously WTF !?

Dont you think IS have enough mechs ;D ?

Edit: ok, maybe IS need s a GOOD heavy, but definitely no light, med or assault . . .

Bushwacker B > Any brawler Scat variant. Period.

Clans are in dire need of a few good medium mechs.
I'd prefer the Ursus and Stormcrow.
The one is a hard to kill defender that sacrifices speed for more armor then any currently fielded medium and a punch that makes SCats become blue with envy, the other is a very flexible weapons platform.
Never arm once what you could arm twice.

The Ryoken and Hunchback IIC are planned.

If leaks from 0.5.3 are to be believed, then the Conjurer and Black Lanner are both possibilities for the clans.

I was disappointed to hear this.  A Stormcrow can move at 97 KPH, is fully armored for its weight and has 23 tons of pod space, with some very nice configs.

The Conjurer and Black Lanner have downright anemic weapons setups. The Conjurer is a second line battlemech as well, blech. :P

But really, compare the three and the Stormcrow seems the obvious choice and is what I would like to see as the new pocket heavy on the clan side.

IS mediums I'd like to see:
Centurion, iconic enough to be included
Hunchback (possibility to "downgrade" this from the planned IIC?)
Phoenix Hawk and Shadow Hawk (and the possibility for IIC variant for the latter) would be a nice bonus

However, with most IS 'Mechs being upgraded with XL Engines and/or Endo Steel and/or Ferro-Fibrous, there is the problem of differentiating between "IS" and IIC...

Clan mediums I'd like to see:
Stormcrow with its "can carry anything" configs would be much needed for the Clans
Nova could be a medium energy boat, but the fixed torso is a problem
Arctic Wolf for some serious SRM faceraping
Phantom with its ludicrous speed would be a nasty surprise (Ice Ferret and Viper are less extreme examples of fast mediums)

The Hellhound only costs a fraction of what either two first line Omnimechs cost.  According to sarna, the Hellhound only costs 5.3 million cbills, where the Black Lanner and Stormcrow cost 18.1 million and 14.7 million cbills respectively.  However, the MW4M version is vastly different from the CBT version, so the price could end up reflecting that.

They are indeed working on the Hellhound last I heard :)
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

There is a Black Lanner with 6xERMBLs and 2xSSRM6.  One with a pair of LRM20s, and another with 2xMedpulse, 2xSRM6, 2xERSBL, 2xFlamer, and 4xMG's.

Those are hardly anemic and the Prime would work well as a support 'Mech.  It is also damned fast with or without MASC.

Conjurer is a bit meh, unless it runs with and XL engine, then you have a good bit of space to work with. :)

EDIT: What I'd like to see?  A relook of the Crab, and also really want the Blackjack Omni, not the old one.  The Crab would have to be an updated version to be useful in MWLL, and the Blackjack is pretty slow for a medium, but oh those loadouts.
