Textures and detailing are not final on TC_Frostbite.  By its very definition showing "work in progress" screenshots as playtest impressions will not give the final presentation of a map.

Thats dev speak for 'not quite boss, will be soon'.

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?

'boss'

If you take this seriously, you're some kind of mouth-breathing fappwit that shouldn't have survived infancy.

iPoke with JJ on maps like Mirage would be nasty indeed! Lately with the LRM changes I have a lot of fun with the LRM Puma though.

Oh trust me theres plenty of JJ potenial, especially since the routes to get on top of certain areas might not be the most direct.

And theres plenty of areas of the map that'll still only be able to be reached by BA or JJ capable mechs.

The roads, while necessary for guiding the player for good game play, they look way too pristine and artificial. How about a different texture to match the snowy wasteland?

As Leer pointed out, Frostbite is very much in-progress, particularly on detailing. The roads won't look magically snow-resistant in the final version, I assure you :P
