VGS Command Menu
« on: January 03, 2012, 08:16:59 AM »
If you've played any Tribes game, this should be familiar:

For those who don't know what that is, it's basically a quick-chat menu that was used in-place of VOIP, design-wise, back in the day. Since Tribes 1, team-based FPS games have had something like it.
In Tribes, pressing buttons in order would broadcast a specific voice-command to your team, with everything from,
VGS ---> Shazbot!
VGX ---> Damnit!
VGQ ---> You Idiot!
VRG ---> Repair our generator!
VFF ---> Get the enemy flag!
VFR---> Retrieve our flag!
VDB---> Defend our base!
VTA --> Target acquired
VTO --> Target is out of range
and more.

It wouldn't necessarily require voice talent specifically for MWLL. We could just borrow voices from other games, like Tribes 2 or PS. I understand its unprofessional, but this is still a mod and sometimes a small content-corner cut can allow a huge addition to gameplay easily. If you're really considering this feature, I'd be willing to round up and organize them for you.

I also understand that Crysis Wars already has something like this in place, and I think its still usable. Thus, I imagine that means less work for this feature.

/I'm also pretty sure this was suggested before. Why make new thread? ... I dont think any of the old threads have replies since the switch to Crysis Wars
When will full game/demo/beta be released?

Hahah dear god tribes voices in MWLL would rock so hard esp the taunts--no game has ever come close to the awesome taunts that tribes 2 had, CS came close but that was just spamming your own team not the entire server.

You say it like its a bad thing haha make a CTF map so we can use PROTECT THE FLAG! The flag could be a constant narc, imagine 4 assaults walking backwards while a 5th assault carries the flag back under constant missile spam.

Woah now. Lets not get ahead of ourself.

The chats already have "Defend our base" and the like which should be useful for TC.

definitely could not do that, not unless we want to get in some serious trouble and risk getting shut down

That makes sense... though, I must ask, do you say that with the knowledge that Tribes 1 is freeware?
I don't think that matters, though, since the SDK isn't.
Also, the company that owned/created Tribes 1 per se no longer exists. Yes, the IP is owned, but as far as I know, the software isn't.

I suggested this a long time ago, bro.  :P

My suggestion was just for a text based version. Voices could come later.

Crysis already has some voice commands on the F-keys iirc, replacing those with more appropriate texts and voices is probably far easier than adding a whole new system.

yea i think the voice commands for crysis are f5 then a combination.  It would be a good "nice to have" to up date them for MWLL.

It's not a whole new system if it already exists!

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?

CAPTURE THE PROTOTYPE FACTORY

I use this one all the time regardless of situation. I don't even know what the hell it means since I never played Crysis.
