the Harasser
« on: January 09, 2012, 01:20:31 AM »
so. i do not wish to appear greedy, but is it possible that these can be fixed in the next update? they seem to be more durable than hephs now if that's possible. i have heard it spoken that they have a hitbox bug, but even besides that it appears they can take over a minute of abuse from several light 'mechs and not die. is this intended? it breaks credulity for me to see such an unarmored 20 ton garbage can absorb over probably 100 points of CBT-equal damage.

>no, but really. It is being fixed in the next patch.
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

can any xml wizard inform us as to whether or not they have gained health since hull was introduced? it used to be they would die from a single heavy gauss rifle shot into the side or rear armor, now they feel like an oro to chew through.

From what KL.UK said on NGNG, iirc, they were intending to implement a smaller model of the Harasser in 0.5.4. That's done, k? They did that, but a little quirk happened somewhere along the line when they put the patch up for us all to download: The reduced size hitbox for the smaller Harasser is in this patch. The smaller Harasser model is not in this patch. The Harasser's stats didn't change in any other way.
The result is the Harasser's hitbox is bugged because there are points (mainly at the top of the Harasser's model) where the physical model of the Harasser extends over the hitbox, meaning it can't be directly damaged from there.

While on the topic of the harasser can we get a 6 small x pulse harasser variant  and a 6 mgun harasser variant added for the next patch please?

according to sarna the rac2 takes up 3 critical slots and we have a harasser with 2 rac2 and the small x pulse takes up 1 crit slot.

if 6 small x pulse is too OP 4 small x pulse on a small mount (same as hollander arm mount) would be great instead.

yeah yeah we have allot of variants already it can't hurt to add more!

Unfortunately, it can.
Having too many variants in our current crapass buy menu is cluttery and cumbersome.

Until we can get the revised buy menu in place, we're sticking to a certain number of buyable configs per-unit. Existing configs may be revised in the future until then to spice up gameplay, but for now, there's a set number to choose from.

Harasser will be "fixed" in 0.5.5

Whether this "fix" ends up being old model + old hitboxes or new model + new hitboxes remains to be seen.  Probably the former.

We are trying to get an RC rolled for the end of this week to be tested internally but the usual stumbling blocks of real life, work, internships and classes are delaying things.

Yes, I know that the Harasser is a major bug, and no there is nothing I can do to speed up this process any more than it already is.

Get rid of the AC/5 one.  No one ever uses it, but I will bite my tongue if someone comes in here pleading for it to stay.

That^^ actually sounds fun, but it is gonna be hella hard to use. :)

I suck!! But WE are AWESOME.  We started a unit.  What's that?!  YOU WANNA TOUCH MY UNIT?!! :P ^^12thVR Recruitment Page(clickthepic) ;)

The only AC/5 one I remember was removed 5 or 6 patches ago for the Flamer variant, so I have no idea which one he is talking about  ;D

can any xml wizard inform us as to whether or not they have gained health since hull was introduced?

The hull made them tougher.
They lost about 400 armor on each component but gained 3000 hull points, so if you only attack a single side it gained about 2500 points of armor.

But what really makes then seem so tough is the extreme ammount of flamer variants that are driving around now. That one has always had almost twice the armor compared with the other variants.

yeah... that would definitely explain it.

Of course, that does mean that Harassers have paper-thin outer armor. Once critical damage effects are added to vehicles they'll probably be rather... deflated.

Yeah, thats why I don't really have a problem with the added harasser strenght right now (well the bug is annoying, but it'll be gone soon anyways).

The crit system is one of the thing I look forward the most. Bound to make things interesting.

amusingly, the flamer-equipped one is by far the strongest out of all of them. i mean really, i would say it's one of the only ones with a real role.

i too look forward to real hull effects. as it is now, the implementation of hull was basically a flat buff across the board. armor may have needed a little push, but the heavier ones always felt threatening to me, if used in the correct way. now dueling them is nigh impossible. the lack of tactical choice or any skill in piloting is what bothers me, i guess. not that i die to them more frequently.

IMHO, Harasser D should receive  armour nerf. Just lower the maximum amount of armour that a Harasser can carry (this would be logical, hovercraft of such construction can't carry much armour). Add some HSs for the free tonnes.
