i dont understand the portable gaming craze. for the big games, the most portable i want is my laptop, so i can cart it to a lan party. any more portable and i just want stuff like F zero and Super metroid, like the gameboy offers. playing big games on the move/anywhere just seems ridiculous to me.

however, i will say that that tablet/thing looks pretty good for what it is.

Yet another retarded, overpriced gizmo from Razer. It's a $999.99 tablet with thumbpads.

Basically it is Intel trying to get a foothold in the tablet market. Trying to find another niche. Intersting idea, but laptop and PC will probably still be the choice for gamers.

The problem isn't that their gizmos are dumb, it's that dumb people keep buying them.

Well, I think it's a good idea, in principle.

However their "prototype" does just look like someone has stuck a bit of metal and black wii nunchucks to the side of a bog standard generic tablet.  Should be clip on controllers, and not just look like they were added on as an afterthought.

Also, an i7?? in a Tablet??  It looks to me that the controllers are so far from the main body so that you don't roast your hands.  The tablet itself could probably double as a portable hob.  Battery life will be terrible.  Stick a more efficient processor in, knock £300 off the price and sort out the controllers

After all, people have bought more unwieldy "portable" things, having said that I never did see anyone sat in public with their Sega Game Gear

meh, i'm not really into portable gaming.  That's not even from a tablet stand point.  Never really got into the hand helds like gameboys and psp.  Just squinting at a small screen just doesn't appeal to me.

Has nothing to do with efficiency, the i7 has much better gaming capabilities than the ARM chips that standard tablets use.

Why anyone would buy a PC-type product, then use dual joysticks, is beyond my understanding, regardless of mobility.

Hmmm. No mention of GPU. Gonna be an integrated chip, because the manufacturers advertise them as gaming-capable? (choking on laughter while typing that)

Dual thumbsticks ie. gamepad equivalent is only good for third-person action where precision is not necessary, and arcade driving games. Touchscreen is even less useful, for casual gaming only. But what about the genres that are PC's strength? FPS's? No wai. Flight or other (driving, tank, submarine, etc.) simulators? No wai. Strategy (real-time or turn-based)? No wai. RPG's or MMORPG's? No wai. Etc. So the device is a solution looking for problem, because typical PC games are not suitable for playing on a gamepad or touchscreen and will stay that way.

That's the 100$ question ;D
The 1000$ one is: Would you really pull out a "sub-$1000" on the bus, where some douchebag can knock it out you hands?

and as for Project Fiona would be better if more like this: http://wikipad.com/ but less toy like
