Core detonation/breach effects on nearby Mechs/Tanks
« on: January 20, 2012, 10:56:13 AM »
Now this might be a idiotic question / suggestion, but shouldn't there be some increase in ambient temperature when you are caught in the reactor-implosion*?

I mean, you get this huge fireball and all that, yet you can merrily keep firing lasers, PPC's, and SRM's despite the fact that mech's core just blew up 20 meters from you.

(*or explosion? I'm not really sure what the correct term here is.)

It's called going Ranger, or for the old-timers, stackpolling.

Yeah, I always thought it should transfer heat to those around it too, maybe even give the heat effect a larger radius.  So, even if you don't take damage you still might heat up a bit.

I suck!! But WE are AWESOME.  We started a unit.  What's that?!  YOU WANNA TOUCH MY UNIT?!! :P ^^12thVR Recruitment Page(clickthepic) ;)

I agree, I expected this as well, when I got into my first core breaches. Would be nice to have.

I think the explosion should just heat up the air around you for maybe 30 seconds (e.g. +400 degrees), not heat up the 'Mech itself. But otherwise this is a great idea, hope the developers are convinced, too.

Ahem.
Exactly.

In all seriousness I'd definitely like to see heat damage applied to all mechs within a very generous radius, even if they don't take damage from the explosion (heat should be attenuated of course if possible so that farther away = less heat than ground zero). It would be hilarious to see someone go critical, two people die in the explosion, then three or four other people suicide within a few seconds of each other when the heat screws them over :I

When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

Even better if you can initiate the self destruct and then eject. You probably won't make it, but if you do, you're awesome.
