So... Im a little confused.
« on: January 21, 2012, 04:51:06 PM »
I saw the trailers for this game and I'm really excited to play. I'm just confused on what game I need to play, or where to get it. Is there any free download for it?

Crisis wars is the game you need

This is a full conversion mod for that

I'll lets others explain more, but that's your first step  8)

1A: The game required is Crysis Warhead, and, by extension, it's stand-alone multilayer component: Crysis Wars. Both can be purchased in many places, right now I think there's a sale on Amazon.
1B: Crysis Warhead (Wars) are not (legally) available for free. Most servers enforce proper CD keys, so you must first attain a legal CD-key of Crysis Wars/Warhead.
2A: MechWarrior: Living Legends proper is provided at no cost to you.
2B: Though you should rejoice that MWLL is a free mod, keep in mind you still have to buy Crysis Warhead in order to play with other players.
3A: Buying through Steam can cause issues, but we can help you with those!
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

Thank you for the responses. I'm going to track down a copy of Crysis warhead now. If I bought it on steam would the mod still be able to work?

Yes, barring a bad key from Steam (which you would probably want to contact EA for another), steam works.

I play with a steam copy.

HOLD IT!

My friend bought his game over Steam recently. His key was not invalid, he just had to go and edit a few files (with a handy guide on the news-page) to get it entered properly in the game. Steam does not give you invalid CD keys, they just patch them into Wars incorrectly. That is, overall, a much easier process than pandering to EA about giving you a new key, which you'll have to enter anyway.

Oh, I play with a Steam copy, too. If you use the 64-bit version, it's unlinked from Steam.

Alright. If I buy from the origin store and I buy crysis warhead. Would that cause any CD Key problems?

Remember, you buy crysis warhead, but use the Crysis WARS game which is included when you purchase warhead.

@ Cloudburst.

Yeah, that too. When I bought my wars during a holiday sale it was invalid though.  :-\

Be sure that your crysis wars is up to date with version 1.5 before you try running the mod.

Also make sure that you run a quick 1 min round of Crysis Wars with no mod to validate your cd key with gamespy.

Alright. I figured I would have to do so in order to play. How many servers/people still play?

You can track the number of players here: http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/status/
At any time of day, there is usually at least one US or EU based server with players on it. It's not much (but often gets better after major patches), but enough to have fun with it every day ;).

ON the main page, right under current version and download now<which should also be red> we should have a link for steam users, also highlighted with link for install instructions. It seems that alot of people use steam so that should be highlighted right there, top of page.
This game with a good system should really be an amazing experience for any mw fan.
We should troll the mwo boards like" you got a kick ass system, OH you gotta try mwll."
As peoples systems get better and better, this game should really have more fans.
I am held back by cpu< a fast dual core> but still held way back. I cant imagine how awesome this game is on a top tier system.
