Well, considering that this is internet, and if they are going to make it so that you can paint your own mechs.. Well, I think everyone here knows what kind of paintworks we are going to see.

Can't understand what the fuzz is about. It is concept.

Yes, it does deviate from the original TRO-drawing (I guess PGI actually wanted a new concept or they wouldn't have contracted someone to do it; also, I concur with another poster in that the old Centurion's legs looked like they were made of LEGO). Yes, the arm shield probably does not serve any in-game purpose - just as the radar dish of the awesome and the hands of every battlemech ever ported to Mechwarrior. Yes, it does look pretty modern for a 3025 mech, but only if you compare it to the original TRO's - if you compare the Centurion to the MWO-'Mechs whose concepts are released, it fits quite nicely imo.

I find this discussion to be incredibly rude. FD has drawn a concept and it deviates from your preferences - you are free not to use/buy MWO or to discuss your preferences, but many of the posts in here were outright insulting. You remember the Unreal Tournement Kid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2QxLpS3aIM)? That's what this discussion looks like. Well done.

The discussion isn't rude, but some of the comments are.

Incidentally, in a recent poll about the currently released mechs, the Centurion comes out first: http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/3731-so-which-mech-redesign-for-mwo-do-you-like-best-and-why/
(Though not that many people have voted yet.)

The Centurion actually looks more in line with the other 'Mechs now, as opposed to being picked from random anime. Which was the problem with many "classics", especially the Unseen: they looked out of place because they were out of place (even though many of them were unforgettable nevertheless). Now, PGI has the unenviable task of presenting a "unified" look among 'Mechs, while at the same time "reimagining" things so that they are free to use the art as they please (lest they get into Unseen debacle as well).

Not sure I understand the desire for a 'unified' mech lineup, since there are so many different manufacturers (look at all the different computer cases out there; some are REALLY different from the others).  Also, as far as I know, the Centurion was never the target of the unseen/reseen debacle; was it actually dragged into that?

Anyway, my general opinion, for what it is worth: if the Centurion looks like that, in-game, I will pilot it, I will love it, and I will appreciate the fact that one of the rear-facing medium lasers is now in the forward arc.  I would like it to be slightly leaner, and with more human-style legs, and a head that sits on the shoulders rather than between them, but I can easily live with what it is right now, and enjoy the way it looks.

I will also appreciate the Pontiac 100, if I am able to mount one at some point.  :D

No (at least not according to this list or the other list), it just looks like that :P

But unless they have separate head controls in MWO, I would assume that in the name of logic they will get rid of all individually articulated heads to avoid a gazillion questions going "omg why cant i turn mah head it does so in teh art!".

That, and having the cockpit protrude out of the torso just seems like asking for headshots.

Hehe.  It's one of my favorites.  I did it a few years back (you can use the search tool for kanazuchi and see the progression of the model, I posted alot of it on the forums), but definitely one of my favorite models.

Feels good, man.  The lower legs struck me as a little spindly, but seem to be close to human proportions with respect to the rest of the leg. Very sturdy-looking actuator connect the legs to the pelvis.  The torso actuators look as protected as can be without changing the visual fidelity considerably.  The arms have huge shoulder actuators and generally look like they could actually take a beating from recoil or enemy fire.  Beautiful, moderately asymmetrical torso - even if the missile pod weren't there.

If PGI wants a more TRO-like Centurion, it'd be easy enough to work from this.  Drop the enhancement from the left pauldron, drop the shield (though enlarging it plays to the namesake and dropping it adds negative space), and move/stretch the torso laser block up to accommodate a more defined head without adding negative space.  I get the impression that it wouldn't take much clearance to give the head about 35 degrees of rotation to a side.
