Well it looks like the EA Origin service just keeps growing.

According to previous sales announcements they should have had more accounts than that from BF3 alone.

Funny how EA's numbers never line up.

BF3 and Star Wars old republic both require it... though it remains to be seen if much else will be able to increase it at anywhere near the same rate since pretty much everyone hates Origin.

Origin sucks so much ass, but so did Steam when it first came out and the sentiment was generally the same.
I don't mind competition in the marketplace, as currently Steam has the monopoly on customer convenience and satisfaction.

Having another competitor will only work in our favor and I don't plan on using Origin until it's actually competitive.

If they were actually competing with each other, yeah that'd be true.  But they aren't.  Origin is grabbing up exclusivity contracts with developers right and left to AVOID having to compete.

With Origin, what we're going to end up with is two completely independent and seperate systems and eventually every computer gamer will have to have accounts on both.  The games on one will be completely incompatible with games on the other and each will have their own set of exclusives.

That's about the surest way to kill off PC gaming, by making it not only more convenient to play on a console but FAR more convenient to play on a console.  At least on the console when you switch from CoD to BF you don't have completely seperate friends lists...

Origin is the worst piece of shit DRM ever (edit: second worst, forgot about GFW Live). I will never use it or play another game that requires it, unless there are some drastic improvements.

We have been over this. This is not what Origin does.

Even if it did not, I would still not install Origin until the EULA wording that supports this sort of activity on EA's part was removed.  After what they did with ME3 (which was brilliant, btw; they waited until we were hooked on the story from the first two, then hit us with the Origin hammer for the conclusion), I would be very hesitant to buy any games on it as well.  It would not surprise me if they reversed it, got a lot of people to buy their games, then returned it to its original condition, thereby requiring the customers to keep it installed if they want access to the games for which they already paid.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but in light of EA's behaviour over the past 10 years or so, I would not put it past them.

I only installed it for Battlefield, and found a crack to bypass Origin.
All I used Origin for was to install the game, then I never launched it again.

Even Origin beats the crap out of needing to find my DVD and Serials on the back of a game manual.
That's saying alot.
