Aidan, from now on, I expect you to post a THOUGHT on every link you post.

All these one-link, no-discussion threads from you are getting old and just break down into people spamming. If you can't handle putting further input into your own discussions then don't post about it because apparently even you give so little a shit about the content you're posting it's not worth discussing.

If you can't start a discussion on a link YOU found, then it's obviously not worth talking about if you have nothing to say about it.
Have some posting etiquette.

Someone could write a script that would post more thought-provoking content and discussions than you.

Ok. Here is a thought. You could have sent your response to me by PM ... but nooooooo ... you have to exercise your supposed authority by your little gem of a comment.

So either ban me from the forums or lay off !

I am not violating the MWLL forum rules.

I enjoy the resulting spider-man spam.

Raging at forum admins isn't always wise.  You should be well aware of that by now.

But.. but the link only post, and the raging at forum admins when he is confronted by it is Aidans way.  It is like, a normality on these forums. Like the peculiar signatures Bill tends to find. It is part of Toast. I think Defender needs to sit down, have a tea or coffee and enjoy some toast in real life before he comes back with the seriousness stance in Off Topic.

Mind you...

Well, if I said it to openly, I apologize.
Personally, I've been getting PM'd and reading reports left and right.

The main reason I stated it publicly is because I want everyone to know, not just you, and it didn't need a thread of its own.
I will have to change the rules if need be, but I don't like needing to have general posting etiquette as a rule, rather than a consideration.

Lately though, it seems the lax nature of our forums is leading to clutter and spamming, and I don't like to go around banning people.
I'd rather make a strong public stance, rather than burying it as a hard-coded rule. I hate overmoderation of forums, and generally let people say and do as they please. Though, based on that general rule of mine, I will post my thoughts on issues rather bluntly, as I'm not the shining glimmer of Public Relations. You've been around long enough to know me by now.

As we get new players, I'd like them to a forum filled with discussions and order, yet know they can express their opinions freely as long as they actually express their themselves in a reasonable and coherent manner. If I'm too blunt, I apologize. I'll try and retain a more politically correct and emotionless stance in the future.

Sir I believe this is one of the offending comments that has people coming to Aidan's side. While attacking his forum etiquette is fine, as a moderator that likes to be taken seriously you must also afford others the respect you wish to be afforded. Personal attacks are not the way to do this.

Everyone jokes and that is great but it is very obvious that you are not.

I believe there are rules against being mean to other posters in one sense or another, people get reported for far less this I know. Just some food for thought.

That's true. That was clearly under the belt on that one.
Totally uncouth of me and for that I take my flack.

Defender said it in his own charming way, but a lot of us were thinking something similar :)

Post a link, sure, but at least give a little summary as to what it is and why you thought it was worth posting in the first place. Couldn't hurt, right?

I've never understood why people apologize for stating a fact bluntly.  Truth is forum bots typically do post more thought-provoking content than a simple link.  If the truth hurts that means you should fix the problem, not pussyfoot around it.
