A few months back I called they'd be back to normal pricing in late March.  Prediction win :)

Didn't know there was a major flood in Thailand; however, I'm really surprised that Western Digital--an American company--had more than 75% of their production lines in another country. That seems pretty careless to me... I was also wondering why 1 TB drives jumped up so much. I figured it was all because I finally had the spare cash to get a couple.. lol. So this explains a lot though. I'd still say May would be a better bet to start getting deals on HDDs again. Not only for the general Summer sales events, but also because a lot of manufacturers won't have any inflation excuses by all that time to hang on to. Who knows though...

Virtually all hard drives are produced in Asia.
