0.5.5 update, can have .zip file for manual install?
« on: February 07, 2012, 09:06:28 AM »
Hey could someone give me the 0.5.5 .zip so I can install the update manually? Just finished updating to 0.5.4 thanks to .zip files here on the forums. Thanks

Just change the 0.5.4 in the last zip link you downloaded to 0.5.5

Elsewhere use the function "Check for Updates" on the MWLL.Launcher

I'll just say the "check for updates" is being stupid for numerous reasons. Just easier to install the .zip file.

Can you elaborate on what makes the function to update the build automatically via the built-in "Check for Updates"  versus manually downloading and extracting the updates, a displeasing process for the user?

Well in my case the auto update didn't work... and no, I don't know why

It is dependent on special software, thus inflexible and cannot be interfaced. Furthermore, the autodownloader is buggy and often tended to delete the downloaded zip after installation. Also a nightmare for server operators.

Needless to say, I don't have a positive opinion on any autodownloaders ;)
