Kicked for using LRMs
« on: February 08, 2012, 08:16:15 PM »
What the hell is the deal?  Getting kicked off a server for using LRMs?  a VERY basic weapon system for any Battletech game.
I can understand how frustrating it is when you have a full company or even a lance of mechs on a hill only raining LRMs on your head... but its part of the game.

I was in a Mech with Large Lasers and LRMS.  the enemy had set up an obvious Kill zone if I pursued them.  So I guess the Server Admin expected me to go in there and get flayed alive by taking on 3 mechs, each larger than mine.  Instead I launched some LRMs to break them up... and got kicked for it.   >:(

If I cant play the game in a sensable manner... then whats the point of playing??

probably better to go to the admins of the server itself with this one. we as a whole are not in charge of this unnamed  server.

Which server was this? Sounds like Retarded Server for Idiots, not a proper MWLL server. Join one of the others instead and you'll have a much better time with better people.

Some servers do not enforce rules equally/abuse their power.  Simply find a better server to play on.

So true Ressk [CSF] contacting the admin via their site would be the most appropriate path to take. Posting the issues here serves no use nor is it the correct place to question the reason for the Kick/Ban.

Im sorry that you dont think this is the appropriate place to post this subject.  I looked through many threads over 2 hrs worth to find a good place to do so.

It Does have a very Good use/purpose.  If nothing else it lets the offending server know that what they are doing is unheard of and very innapropriate.  I honestly do not remember what server it was.  There were only 2 at the time that had more than 1 person playing and the normal one was full.  Since the Admin was the one making the rules... what good would it do to contact them... when they were the person who kicked me?

I mean, It is my understanding that we all want to have a great time and get as many people possible into this amazing Mod/product.  Am I right?  So dont you think it appropriate that the MW:LL community know what some of the servers are pulling?

Those are the underlining purpose of the original post.  I think they are very appropriate to mention and im a bit put off that you would say that there is no use, or correct place to question the validity of the kick (I never said ban) in posting this issue.

Woah slow your roll there mechwarrior.

Did you receive a kick message? This game is still in beta and sometimes people will get dropped or lose connection to server. If you received a kick message then you were kicked. If not, then you just got dropped by the server gods. I does happen.

Also, most servers I know use a ping limiter that also kicks clients when their ping exceeds a certain limit. We would certainly love to not do this of course. We have to because of the state of Crytek's latency compensation.

Absolutely.  I did receive a Kick message.  Right After a in game message to all saying heavy use of LRMs would result in being kicked.  So I got a mech with both lasers and LRMS...

So there is your reason.
Even if it seems retarded, their server, their rules.

I have a idea what server this could be, and no it is not Huntress. Some of you may dislike SJ for what ever reasons, but they tend to be mostly fair on their rules.

I am very curious what server it is.  I have personally never encountered unreasonable admin kicks in MWLL before.

I have, and I can name others who have as well.  There are too many servers to complain about 1 sour one, though.
