I've pretty thoroughly tested this.
I'm from Australia and most of the servers I play on are located in central US. So that means Huntress, Bulldog, Official and TLL. My ping is around 220 ms to these.
Everything works fine until the server populates to 20 players and beyond. Then the game changes dramatically to pretty much unplayable!
Symptoms:
- I get the connection problem logo and everything freezes. But I don't get a connection timeout. This occurs for 5-120 seconds.
- Mechs spawn in the hangar without their torsos. Vehicles and Mechs won't spawn at all sometimes. The hangar door sometimes stays closed.
- Everything warps around and hit detection is horrible. Missiles take ages to lock on.
This is quite a game wrecker. I can only play TSA and TC on lowly populated servers and I have to leave when it starts to get populated. I am able to play SA fine though due to the lower player count.
I'm pretty sure it's not a client PC power issue. I have an E8400 and it runs at about 80% load. To reiterate; Everything is normal at 18~19 players and then at 20 it hits the wall and everything goes bad. It seems like the server doesn't bother to communicate with my client properly.
