Sound Engineer/Composer
« on: April 07, 2012, 05:51:56 PM »
Name: Aresye (Ben)
Age: 25
Position: Sound Engineer/Composer
Past Projects: Have almost 2 years experience with Cubase 5.  Familiar with sample editing, synth programming, mixing, and mastering.
Ties to MechWarrior: Been playing pretty much my whole life, since MW2 in 1996.  Love the games, and love the music.
Other Commitments: Active Duty Military, so my schedule fluctuates.

I got word that the team is in need of some sound designers, especially for sound effects.  As an electronic musician, I'm very familiar with the process of sample creation, sample editing, loop creation, and other techniques that are important for sound design.  I have a quality condenser mic that can be used to record live audio, in addition to many synths and effects that can be used to create a wide variety of sounds.  Below are some samples of my work:

Sound Effect Sample (Engine Loop): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52284231/Engine%20Loop.mp3
- Made in about 15min.
- Can be looped as long as needed.
- EQ was cut in the mid-range frequencies for other sound effects such as weapons and foot stomps, so when the sounds are merged they don't sound muddy.

Synth Programming Sample: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52284231/Synth%20Breakdown.mp3
- Small excerpt from a full song.
- Sample is to illustrate knowledge in the areas of programming synths, mixing, and mastering technique.

Music Composition Sample: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52284231/Orchestral%20Sample.mp3
- Just a small sample of my composition work, should it be needed.

Overall what I'm getting at is that I'm flexible.  My knowledge of sampling and programming techniques can easily be transferred over into sound engineering.

Let me know if you'd like another sample.

Bumping this.

I applied because I was told there's a need for sound engineers.  If there is no need, just let me know, but right now I have no idea whether or not my application simply got overlooked, ignored, or wasn't needed.

I've also upgraded my workplace, in case there were any doubts to my dedication of oscillating frequencies.

You will be contacted.
There comes a point where the talking must stop, and people have to do actual work.

Sorry about that, I think the issue was just simply we were all in the 0.5.6 release crunch and I don't believe we have an active "full time" lead sound guy around, so it was probably just missed :)

No problems.  Just wanted to make sure.

What is the preferred method of contact?  PM, TeamSpeak, or personal email?

Going to give this thread another bump, with another sample.

TwinkleToes gave me a small project to try and create a sound that could be used to indicate another mech targeting you.  From what I could gather it was more of a, "****s and giggles," type of project, but I hopped on to see how if I could do it well.

This is the finished sound: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/52284231/Other%20Files/TargetYou.mp3

Took the initial targeting sound, resampled it, and added a bass synth from Massive with a high pass filter and large cutoff to cut out any bass frequencies.  Exported that, resampled the high-passed bass, and then resampled the combined sound.

The end result is something similar to the original targeting sound, but easily distinguishable to avoid confusion, should this ever be a feature that's implemented.

Also, here's an update on my contact info:

Primary Email: aresye@gmail.com
Secondary Email: navybrony@gmail.com
Primary Skype: navybrony (I'm on this one more often than the one listed above, because I'm usually participating in group chats with musicians.)
Secondary Skype: aresye2443

Other points on contact:
Teamspeak: [CW][1stTL]Aresye (Usually on 1stTL/Clan Wolf channels.)

He likes to show us samples of his work down in teamspeak. It's pretty damn good.

(Cept' for the Dubstep crap, but that is just me xD)
