Found amazing modeler on DeviantArt
« on: May 15, 2012, 04:07:45 AM »
I'm not sure how to contact "Wandering Samurai" about this, but if your interested in a possible recruit for modeling, I'd send a personal message to Punakettu at DeviantArt.com

This is his/her gallery, he/she is on par with your guy's team and he/she has several battlemech 3D models that I've never seen done before and they look damn good too.  Hope this helps on your recruitment King Leer & ect.

He already works for MekTek on their projects, more than likely not willing to help us out.

I believe they may have already talked to him before. The tools that he uses wouldn't work for MW:LL. Correct me if I am wrong on this.

I going to guess Max actually. But who knows.

It really doesn't matter what you create your art in to a certain extent. Obviously set up and export to game engines is usually done in max and maya, and to a lesser extent other apps, but all game engines want the same thing out of you as an artist so at the end of the day everything else art wise bar export can be done in a broad array of apps if you know what you are doing when it comes to games in general.

Also, there's the issue that while more help on mechs is nice, we really don't have a "mech" shortage as much as we do have an enviornmental artist or misc model shortage. We've got some awesomely talented people already who contribute to our mech lineup, basically. But enviornment/misc wise, we've got almost nobody, or at least rather it's been a more neglected part of the mod.

Fact of the matter is, the majority of modelers who get intererested in our mod tend to not want to do anything but giant robots, when that position isn't nearly as in-demand as other 3d artist areas.

Then maybe it should be a rule for every battle asset you create you must create two environmental assets. Let the hate begin!

Reverse that and it might be acceptable.

This dude is from MekTek, we're not on bad terms with them, but we're not on good enough terms for asset-sharing either.
