His comparison is correct for the most part.  I think the gameplay for SP is done very well though.  I didn't think I would like it at first but it keeps the game flowing.  Plus you can't beat the fact that a dreadnought aurocannon can sweep back and forth across 20-30 termagaunts and kill them all instantly.  Most levels also end in a sort of "boss battle."  For example a carnifex.  These bosses have special abilities and a crap load of health.

I actually like the game, it's a much simpler form of RTS, the multi player is less about resource management and more about tactics and real time unit management, which is always what I wanted out of a RTS rather than a simplified version of Civ in real time.  Sure I would make some changes to it, and balance it a bit out for MP but at the moment it's a very enjoyable game... even for someone who really, really does suck at RTS.

I must be doing something wrong.  Most of my units are level 17 and I just barely got Terminator armor for the tacticals.  All in all the SP feels just like the MP...one big game of "whack-a-mole".  Bring back DoW1 gameplay with DoW2 enhancements and I would be all over it.

Tacs get Term armor? o_O
I only knew, that the Assault and Devastator captains could get Terminator Suits...
Anyway I like it, dunno why you think it's like whack-a-mole, imho it's most about positioning your units and flanking enemies if they are well protected.

I mean in the sense that every planet only has 3 or 4 territories.  Go on a mission in one, defeat it, and most times immediately see another mission in the same sector.  Hence, whack-a-mole.

Its a health related skill you have to earn.  It may be firepower but I think its health.

Agreed Death Grin.

@loonatic, Don't think I mean a game needs base building to be pro, I LOVED the mechcommander games, in alot of ways more than the MW games since Im more of an RTS man.

Mechcommander had big maps, with a series of objectives you had to tackle with your group of varied and customizable units.

Imagine if mechcommander had tiny, linear maps. And losing mechs gives you a resource bonus to buy more mechs to throw into a pointless meatgrinder.

Ew.  No, I wouldn't like that at all.  Thanks for the heads up.  I was going to try it, but I may just pass now.  I know it's getting all sorts of good reviews, but if what you say is true, it's still more about reflexes than strategy.  I'm a fan of meatgrinder action, if it makes sense, it's not twitchy, and there are consequences for losing units.  I also hate linear maps.  You are correct in your assessment of MC.  It had large maps that you could wander all over if you wanted to.  Anything else is unrealistic and too restrictive.
