All those snow patches on the concrete look like decals. They can be expensive.

Are you sure you're GPU bound and not CPU bound?

Yup, the GPU was crunching the 99% usage always (CPU is a Q9550 at 3.7Ghz). You can justify the FPS drop by the Tris count also, that you see in the screenshots.
Tools and I:
   - MWLL Online Launcher (LAN UDP Forwarder) - evolution of past "Le Proof of Concepto" project: connect without Gamespy via packet redirection;
   - Vehicle Browser - "Pocket Wiki" ©okaolias (not really that though);
   - Rconnect 4.3 - Server tools: map manager/player voting add-ons;
   - CryHammer - Validates Patch/CDKey of Crysis Wars (now unable to validate CDKey due to turned off Gamespy servers).

I'm pretty sure particles was shown to have one of the best performance gains/appearance ratio, so I'm not sure why you're so adamant about it.

Adamant about it in what way?

Haha, yeah, I'm using a 9800GTX+ and I'm getting framerate dropoffs on Frostbite.

It seems for this game you need at *least* a 200 series Nvidia card to run on anything but medium settings.
