I like the pro tip but I do have a question about the cl_free_reticle_independent set to 1 command. Is there any way of incorporating that setting into the game permanently or do you have to type it in every time you launch the game?
put it in the autostart.cfg (exact name?) in the crysis folder somewhere (not on my pc, can't confirm the location).

May be its autoexec.cfg in game foulder (not mod foulder)?

For example; mine:
G:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Crysis Wars = Autoexec.cfg
C:\Users\Defender\Documents\my games\Crysis Wars\Profiles\Defender = Actionmaps.xml

Replace your existing files with mine to lock cursor to center by default and toggle movable reticule with ALT.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/97269992/Transfer/MWLL/DefendersFreelookConfig.zip

I also want to note that my AutoExec is not default. For example I was recently notified that my physics are on the 4th core.
God knows what else I threw in there. =)

I believe this is what you're looking for, Kentax.  I haven't used it myself so I can't confirm it.
EDIT:  OOPS, I just looked back at your post Kentax and see that you're looking for a toggle key for the reticle lock, not just a default setting.  I don't think that this will address that issue, sorry.

For my own feedback, I've learned to stop worrying and love the new free reticle.  I couldn't hit shit at first but after some practice, I'm doing ok with it.

I actually like switching between the default torso follow mode (for fighting mechs/ground assets) and switching to free look to hit air assets and ground assets and BA that are below me.

I've managed to kill quite a few targets that would not have been possible with the old style aiming system due to the target being outside of my aiming range.

This is not really a bug. The arms have independen rotation maximums so this is correct behaviors. Of course it would be more cnovinient if the maximum angle of the reticle would match the maximum rotation degree of the arms.

Kind Regards
Ingrater

Well that's a PITA. With the current implementation of Pro Mode, I just can't play right, and without being able to go back to the old mode, I am in the middle of either forcing myself to learn a completely different control scheme (probably abandoning my joystick) or not play. Damn,

Does that not give you back the old mode sufficient to what you're looking for?

Capper Deluxe was saying that there is a way to put cvars into the actionmapper. Any idea how to do that?

I think it would also work if you put it into that one cfg file, I can't recall the filename since I'm at work but its where those invert cvars go in the Crysis Wars directory.  I actually have a means to let the actionmapper put in cvars (like the inverts) so I can put it in there at a later time.

I guess my question really is can I make a single key on my keyboard toggle between cl_free_reticle_independent 1 and cl_free_reticle_independent  0    ?

You can play around with something like this: (in your actionmaps)

    <action consoleCmd="1" name="toggleIntCvar cl_free_reticle_independent" onPress="1">
      <key name="home"/>
    </action>

Or:

    <action consoleCmd="1" name="cl_free_reticle_independent 0" onPress="1">
      <key name="home"/>
    </action>
    <action consoleCmd="1" name="cl_free_reticle_independent 1" onRelease="1">
      <key name="home"/>
    </action>

Or:

    <action consoleCmd="1" name="cl_free_reticle_independent 0" onPress="1">
      <key name="home"/>
    </action>
    <action consoleCmd="1" name="cl_free_reticle_independent 1" onPress="1">
      <key name="end"/>
    </action>

Tools and I:
   - MWLL Online Launcher (LAN UDP Forwarder) - evolution of past "Le Proof of Concepto" project: connect without Gamespy via packet redirection;
   - Vehicle Browser - "Pocket Wiki" Šokaolias (not really that though);
   - Rconnect 4.3 - Server tools: map manager/player voting add-ons;
   - CryHammer - Validates Patch/CDKey of Crysis Wars (now unable to validate CDKey due to turned off Gamespy servers).

OK. I tired them out, but nothing seems to happen. Hitting home or end or any other key that I assign those to doesnt do anything. :(

Try adding 'cl_free_reticle_independent = 1' to your 'Autoexec.cfg' file.

I got what Kentax is asking for to work if anyone else is interested.

Ensure that you have cl_free_reticle_independent = 1 in your autoexec file.

Here's what you need to add to your actionmaps file, like Ingrater said, under the "Mech" section:
Code: [Select]
  <action name="toggleIntCvar cl_free_reticle_independent" onPress="1" consoleCmd="1">
   <key name="lalt"/>
  </action>
  <action name="toggle_free_reticle" onPress="1">
   <key name="lalt"/>
  </action>
  <action name="center_free_reticle" onPress="1">
   <key name="lalt"/>
  </action>

This is toggle only.

I copy pasta the stuff you wrote into my action mapper in the mech section. I insert the  cl_free_reticle_independent = 1 into my autoexec in my crysis wars folder. I go into game. I hit lalt and nothing happens at all. I hit 't' my normal reticule toggle key and it will toggle between promode torso control and promode arm control.

Maybe you could send me the entire action map file of yours and see if that would work for me.

you need to create a autoexec.cfg with the following line in it (inside your crysis wars install directory)

Code: [Select]
con_restricted = 0
If you don't have that (almost) all console commands will be ignored
There comes a point where the talking must stop, and people have to do actual work.
