Personally i'm not entirely sure the two issues can be joined as easily as that.
Were "the game" a non violent one, like a car racing Game, would some of the visceral adult themes Werewolf has described be acceptable in chat ?
For whatever reason our culture has a popular tolerance for fantasy violence.
Case in point, i was watching the clone wars yesterday, and it struck me that for a kids cartoon, it has some heavy philosophical questions.
The clones are basically a slave race, bred as disposable cannon fodder, and yet each one has a personality
It thus promotes a caste system where one class of person is treated as property. disposable property at that.
It would seem that in the context of fantasy, a multitude of sins can be forgiven.
I dont see MWLL as any more or less suitable for children than clone wars as an example.
Drilling down to the seperate chat issue,
My kids learned about swearing from a very early age and know it's wrong, however my children don't know about anal sex, masturbation, gay love and all the other "Fun" yet inappropriate shit that is said in chat, nor do I want them to at their young ages.
I think thats a (all things being relative and from his perspective) valid point, those sorts of dialog have nothing to do with this or any game that i play.
He didnt say you all need to stop this stuff, just asked for a client end option (of which there is unfortunately for him little to none) to disable it.
The devs have said they have no plans to implement a fix, and thats the end of the matter.
Several of the guys i played CBT tabletop and mercs with have passed away in recent years, so i like the idea of the next generation of fans entering the arena.
I hope he is able to find some working fix from the advice thats been given
