MWLL Takes a long time to lad, then loads in window
« on: September 03, 2013, 07:10:58 PM »
My MWLL install takes about 3 to 5 mins to start from the launcher and when it starts it is in a window, even though I have full screen checked in the options. Any thoughts or ideas? One thes game is up it runs great, just wish it launched quicker.

My Specs
OS = Win8
CPU - CORE2 Duo Quad 2.6ghz
VidCard = Nvidia 560ti

Thanks

This is actually common. MWLL runs a routine to check for hacking that takes a while to go through all the files etc. The slower the CPU The longer it seems to take. My older AMD A8 laptop takes a much longer time than my core i7 laptop.

Yeah, it takes a while to start. Don't know much about decreasing that time.

For fullscreen, press ALT+ENTER to toggle between fullscreen/windowed, then see if it stays that way the next time you launch the game. If it doesn't we'll fix it some way, the more literal one being adding r_fullscreen 1 to your autoexec.cfg.
Tools and I:
   - MWLL Online Launcher (LAN UDP Forwarder) - evolution of past "Le Proof of Concepto" project: connect without Gamespy via packet redirection;
   - Vehicle Browser - "Pocket Wiki" Šokaolias (not really that though);
   - Rconnect 4.3 - Server tools: map manager/player voting add-ons;
   - CryHammer - Validates Patch/CDKey of Crysis Wars (now unable to validate CDKey due to turned off Gamespy servers).

Other than getting  a new proc, loading it on to a SSD drive does wonders.

Also it might just be me, but the new all in one installer seems to load a lot faster than using the mod files with a retail install.

Might be that the actual crysis wars part is pretty bare bones. Less stuff to go through from the vanilla game or sth.

OK I was wondering if that was normal or not, glad it is, I will add the full screen option to autoexec.cfg and see what happens.

Thanks All.

Yeah, and they never bothered to make it multi-threaded. So even people who have a bazillion cores get to wait for that crude hash check to finish ::)
don't bother sending me PMs, I probably won't be reading them in time.

Somebody should put the initial black screen of wait someplace the new comers can find it easily. I've seen wait times from 10 minutes to 30 seconds of the blasted black screen of wait. I've had to tell people in channel and chat that's normal as it runs checks for hacking more times than I care to remember.

What fixed it for me was forcing the game into DirectX 9

Well Crysis Wars supports up to 4 cores, and it's optimised for Intel hyper threading technology AFAIK, so any Intel I5 or I7 with 4 cores should be OK for this game.

Other than getting  a new proc, loading it on to a SSD drive does wonders.
I have a Crucial MX100 (256Gb), AMD 1090t 6 core OCd@3.8 Ghz, GTX 480 and it still takes 15-20 seconds to load.
An SSD helps, but the CPU is still important.
Intel Core 2 CPUs are old, and they don't even have hyper threading, which helps a lot in this game.

A friend of mine got an i7-5930, (and ssd ofc), and it takes about 5-8 secs to load for him...

I think we found out it really only utilizes two cores, but you could defer physics to a third core.

if this is fact (which i trust it is), then shutting the fourth and on core(-s) wold allow for better OC-ing the first three to boost the game further?
Star do check this for us?
Can You disable any core for lower heat and the OC the three further?
