Since to my knowledge there has NEVER been a 2v2 tournament, and that most of this speculation is theory crafting and pub experience on FAR larger maps than these SA maps, I am loathe to use a spending limit. Perhaps we can add tech limits per round, but spending limits are annoyingly complicated.
I will probably adjust a number of rounds based off number of teams so you must understand that you will run out of the most tryhard clan mechs quicker than you realize.
Well, you need to ban all clan mechs because i will kite you all day long in Scat, BlackLanner, Loki, Thor and other absolutely devastating mechs. "Ryo B, Cougar F, Scat A and Madcat G" are just pub stars, nothing more. Solitaire Prime, who can remove back armor of most mediums from one alpha? All day arry day! bad alfatesting ^ )
No. Asymmetrical balance.
Its 2v2 event, just look at number of caln mechs. And is not a question that clan mech have advantage with same weight (Hollander vs Scat, Ryoken VS Bushy, Warhammer vs Nova). So basically if you want to win you not gonna use IS tech. I'd like to see price based rules as well, clan meta is boring.
Ryoken Vs Bushy is closer than you think. The clan lights are amazing against heavier IS mechs but are not as good against IS lights because they are slow and fat compared to the IS mechs.
But forget it, not gonna start ranting balance here. I'll think about tech restrictions, but for now don't worry to much about it and lets some play some games.
How about a 2v2 aero category?
There actually is a SA aero map... but nah, I don't think there are enough pilots for that. At least for now.
