that is all for now

What it is?
Basically, it's Alpha Centaury but for Civilization 5(which is still worse than crack in terms of addictivity).
Just the Problem that EA actually somehow fapping owns the rights to the Name of a STAR . .

I hope somehow Civ5 endgame saves can effect the start game of this.  8)

Still cool though.

Is this supposed to be a Civ5 expansion?
I thought it'd be a standalone game (so they can peddle even more DLC and expansions)

Didn't like the Civ5 engine, but I quite enjoyed Alpha Centuri, so it could be something I'd look at down the line.

@Askis
Looks like a Stand-Alone based on a maybe modified Civ5 engine to me.

@Bill
What did you not like about the Civ5 engine?

Hexes, reduction of options, degradation of certain gameplay elements.

Basically that they "streamlined" it.

ok, i will give you the last two, but what's wrong with hexes? O.o
hexes are better than squares in that they allow 2 more directions of movement.
and on an isometric view, it's a bit easier too.

I almost didn't believe this when the screenshots leaked... I thought it must be a hoax, for surely if we were to get a sequel (even if only in spirit) to Alpha Centauri it'd have happened by now...

I'm so fapping ready for this. Looks like so much fun.
I want to put a bullet between the eyes of every panda that won't screw to save it's species. I want to open the dump valves on oil tankers and smother all those French beaches I'll never see. I want to breathe smoke. I want to destroy something beautiful.

Eh it just messed with my flow, not to mention I really didn't like what they did to armies.

Yeah, the move from Killstacks to only one per hex was a bit jarring . .

I actually prefer Civ V's hexes. I prefer its military... in theory... more movement is good... but it turns into fields crammed full of crap units you have to grind through rather than silly stacks of doom. Still prefer it over stacks of doom though. As with pretty much anything I play.. ever, I only play Civ V heavily modded, I enjoy it about as much as I enjoyed IV.

The WORST thing about Civ5 is the fact that unmodded, on an EARTH map, there are no true starting locations based on where the civs have been historically but only all random starting locations.
There are mods for this tough.
The 2nd worst thing is the same problem as with megamek and many other turn based games which have to do a certain ammount of calculations every end of the round: the next round starting can take up to 5 minutes for me starting at certain points.
