Battlelog
Battlelog Thread with video http://forum.mechlivinglegends.net/index.php/topic,20442.0.html

What is it:
An ongoing planetary capture campaign. Initial round will be October 31 from 16:00- at least 22:00gmt.

What is new or different from operation viper?
The campaign is broken down into turns. Instead of Clan versus Inner Sphere, the battles are waged between five factions. A turn starts with a faction making an attack on a nearby planet from one it controls. Instead of traditional drop lists, assets will be chosen by picking from asset pools. Each team is limited by map tonnage and the battle value system. Assets may only be chosen if they are available in the asset pool.  Neither team will know which asset(s) the opposing faction chose before the battle. Instead of one map for a planet, there will be best of five played. When a faction loses a map the used regiment is destroyed. The victorious faction assets go into repair and may be used again after a few maps. After a planet is either won or lost the turn for the attacking faction ends. The turns continue for all six factions before the turn is done for that round.  Asset pools are restored before each campaign. There are multiple asset pools. Each campaign will receive a different one.

Endgame for factions is reached only by total conquest not via attrition. If you run out of planets your faction is out of the game. Play will continue until only one faction remains.

How to participate:
Signup is not required but encouraged to help the event organizers prepare the event. Players can reply to this thread or pm duelist or starch1ld. Players can show up on teamspeak at mwll.mwmaster.net. I would highly encourage teamspeak for players. Even if you do not have a microphone it can still be helpful to be able to listen to all of your teammates.
If there are interested units please reply to this thread or pm duelist or starch1ld. Since there are 6 factions to play for, there is an opportunity for teams to play together throughout the campaign.
Please connect to the ready room channel in the event channel. This will indicate you are ready to play and are waiting to be put into a team or faction for play.

Mechwarriors
The event is played on a map with 30 planets. Each planet is fought for on a best of 3 of 5 maps. The teams of mechs and vehicles are pre-made. The faction leaders will take care of the overall strategy and pick the teams, or regiments, that will be used to attack or defend the planet. Maps last up to 40 minutes. Time between maps will be around 5-10 minutes. Times between planet attacks will be around 5-20 minutes. There are six groups, or factions playing. Each faction attacks one planet and a turn is completed when all six factions have made their attacks.
Players that wish to play in the tournament will need to have teamspeak installed. A microphone is nice but not required. Players need to have MWLL installed and make sure that it is working before the event. Players are to join mwll.mwmaster.net teamspeak or wr-clan.no-ip.org as the backup teamspeak. Players are asked to join the ready room channel. A tournament representative will move you to a desired regiment. If a player does not have a preference they will be assigned a regiment. The players will then be moved into the war room and will be asked to join the server. A password will be provided if necessary. Players will receive instructions from their drop leader. Players will be assigned a mech or vehicle to build. Players are asked to listen to the drop leader to ensure competitive play and an enjoyable experience.
Players do not need to stay for the entire event and may come and go as they choose. Players that do drop are asked to stay for the entire planet attack if possible. Players that wish to take a break but still want to player later may sit in the Out of Order teamspeak channel.
There is a limit of 20-24 players on a single map so you might not be able to participate on every planet. But we will make our best efforts to ensure everyone gets to play as much as possible. So if you have time come stop by the teamspeak this weekend and you will get to drop with tons of fun teammates.

Drop Commanders
Drop commander play is similar to the mechwarrior role. The difference is that you will be in charge of the team on the map. It will be your responsibility to make sure the correct assets are purchased. You will tell everyone what specific mech or vehicle they will build. You need to remind them to purchase extra ammo, turn off radar, and the overall strategy you wish them to employ once the battle starts. You will need to ensure that everyone does not leave the hangar until 30:00 and that everyone has left by 25:00. The supervisor will provide reminders on this. You will provide instructions during battle on where everyone should go, the rules of engagement, and which mech or vehicle everyone should shoot. Drop commanders will likely work closely with the faction leaders to ensure strategy and end goals are reached. The drop commander can be the faction leader, dedicated person for the whole faction, or  It can even be a random mercenary. There is more responsibility but also more freedom to effect the outcome of the battle than a mechwarrior.

Communications
All coordination will happen via the Teamspeak 3 servers.  Main event server is mwll.mwmaster.net Backup teamspeak server is wr-clan.no-ip.org . Thanks WR Burner!

Is there detailed information on the event?
Yes! Field Guide full of event rules and details. PDF
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B2P1ERegPXU-U21HU2FNTEZpMGc

How can I help?
Glad you asked! :) First of all, tell everyone you know about this event! The more we spread the word the better chance we have of getting a lot of players on. So sign up if you want to take part.  I can also use people to stream and comment on the games as they occur. Post here or pm me if you want to help with the event.

Can you pull this off?
Yes! With The Final Assault and Chaos March Part I finished we have the experience to succeed.

Why?
Since we went through the great gamespy barrier and came out alive on the other side we are feeling confident. We enjoyed helping put on Operation Viper 2. So I said why not. This looks like fun and it might even promote the game.

Wait. What? I thought you could not play this game anymore?! o:0
Well we got lucky :) See this post for the main method http://forum.mechlivinglegends.net/index.php/topic,20422.0.html
Or if you do not want to edit that file use bruno's tool http://brunodemetrio.com.sapo.pt/mwll/MWLL_Launcher.zip

Do I have to fire the game up to see players?
Nope. http://stats.spikx.net

Is there a MapPack?
New, Full mappack: 1.5gb  https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B2P1ERegPXU-V3RWS1d2OS1CalE

Where to get updates during the event?
The battlelog thread will be updated regularly with progress along with the starmap above. http://forum.mechlivinglegends.net/index.php?topic=20442.msg352151

So am I locked into one faction?
Nope. You can play as a mercenary. If you just want to play join the teamspeak Ready Room. The battle supervisor will assign you to a team. Chaos March allows players and units to choose to play for only one faction if they so choose.

Can I play every drop?
Yes, until we get more players than the server can handle.

Are assets persistent?
Yes! The attacking fleet assets are persistent.

Why the asset pools?
It also showcases all of the assets in the game. It provides a form of asset persistence without tons of record keeping. There should be a form of balance as well with so many assets. So no more using only the supposedly best variants in the game. Less time in the meta game means more time piloting big stompy mechs.

Why the Battle Value System
The system acts alongside drop weight limits to attempt a more even battlefield. It helps to prevent one team taking much more powerful assets than the opposition. It also forces commanders to consider all the variants of MWLL instead of a few popular ones. This helps bring more variety to gameplay. The system also increases the amount of strategy involved with drop list creation.

How do players or units interested in playing for one faction sign up?
Contact duelist via PM, teamspeak,  Or indicate your preference in the ready room on the day of the event.

Is there a Steam group for the event?
Yes http://steamcommunity.com/groups/MWLLCM

Participating Units:
{12VR} 12th Vegan Rangers
=KOS= Knights of the Inner Sphere
[-WR-] Wolverines Rebirth (as the Saiph Triumvirate) teamspeak: wr-clan.no-ip.org

Why do you lock the server? It would be nice if you didn't isolate new members of the community (of which there is already hardly anyone) who would like to join the 8/8+ games that you keep locking because of this oh-so important event.

Hello and welcome to MWLL   :)

Short answer: To gain access join mwll.mwmaster.net teamspeak channel during event.

Long answer: These event games are not like regular open games. Before each match all players are divided into teams and team leaders allocate assets for each player. This is done using teamspeak and server is locked to prevent extra players joining before current match is over. All players are welcome to join this event and servers are not locked to keep anyone out.

After you expressed your concerns in-game, today, I must admit that your point is valid. I got a simple solution in mind, but unfortunately, since I'm not the man in charge of this *event* anymore, there's nothing I can do about that.

Well his point is that when we start playing CM we always kill the pub population (and we all know this is true), and since we play on pass-protected servers, all the new players, who want to play after we start, see that everyone is playing on a locked server, so they get pissed off because they don't know how to join (or don't want to because they just want to pub around) and stop playing MWLL even before trying it.

His point would be valid if CM wasn't advertised heavily prior to it starting in any pub match already underway. If they want to play pure pub matches, that's fine but that's their prerogative. If they want to get involved after a CM match has started, we could lock the teams after the round has started and work them into additional rounds as necessary or they can just watch.

I would not mind having some spectators seeing me embarass myself. :)
Watch "Save the Supers" you will get some laughs in.

Should I ever be listed at the top of my team, then we have a serious problem.
