no cover system?
really? CBT has always been even assault mechs running/jumping from cover to cover . . hell, that even happened in MechCommander and Mechwarrior Games <.<
Also, a squad based RPG? For a CBT to PC Port? i just don't see it <.<

Never played the first Battletech game? It was great! Squad based RPG sounds absolutely perfect for this type of game.

Oh! Great! I love their development tiers. Skirmish -> Single Player Campaign -> Expanded Campaign -> Multiplayer

These dudes have their priorities straight.

Did I get this right, or there's no way to play against a real human being, if the kekstarter doesn't reach 2.5mil?

Well, they're already over 400k :o
Seems there's a lot demand for a turn-based Battletech game.

However, 1mil for the full campaign?
Almost 2mil for the actual Mercenary elements?
Ouch...

And yes Mech Daddy, unless they hit 2.5mil, it'll be single player only.

I doubt the pot is going to rise after the first few days. Battletech fanbase is not the largest, and soon probably everyone who cares about this has heard about it. No way it reaches 2.5 million.

The Shadowrun fan base is arguably smaller, and even the first Shadowrun Returns Kickstarter reached 1.9 million dollars. They also did the smart move of making the campaign last 34 days, and started it just before the end of the month, so there are two paydays between start and end.

As much as i want that 275 reward, i won't do it for 2 reasons:
A) Simply too expensive.
B) They can not be trusted to deliver physical rewards.
I had that Problem with Shadowrun Returns, my packet went 4 times over the great pond
USA>Germany,
Germany>USA,
USA>Germany,
Germany>USA,
before they simply kept it there because they could not make it german customs proof.

well, after reading this:
http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/loadFeature/10077/Battletech-A-Promising-Squad-Based-RPG-on-the-Horizon.html
i am kinda a little more meh about this than i was before . .

Hm, why?
Turn-based strategy, Mech and Pilot customization, primary focus on single-player, maybe PvP multi-player as well, no development for mobile to fapp up UI and controls...
Sounds good imho :P

Seems like you will be limited to 4 mechs(and mechs only, no armour/ASF) so it's nowhere near being a strategy or even tactics game., more like a BT-themed lite RPG. Besides, having been played their recent SR games, I expect all sorts of simplifications and "streamlining" when it comes to game mechanics and mech customisation. I don't think they will make an awful game, more like a "sort of ok" game, but nothing more than that so don't raise your expectations too high.

Even if the mechanics were grossly simplified, the game will probably offer an appropriate stage to explore some of the Battletech background. There are so many untapped stories in this universe that the idea of a game less focussed on immediate action seems highly intriguing, too.
I would still prefer deep mechanics on top of those elements, though.

It will probably be closer to MechCommander than MegaMek. Also, there will probabl be vehicles, although the implementation of infantry is dependent on the developers finding a way to make them fun to play.

it's turn based, so it is already more like megamek than mechcommander.
also, they are using the 3D-Models of MWO for this somehow . .

You are right, I forgot about the turn based part. However, it doesn't look like they are using hexes, so that's a step in MC's direction again :)

I wonder how they are going to do that then . .
The entire CBT ruleset is based on hexes after all.
Even if it did start out with squares in the beginning.

meanwhile:
the kickstarter has done 1.366.798 $
