real-world users don't read readme files  :-\ (sad but true TM)
the 3rd party tools directory would be best referenced by a desktop link  8) ("addons")
just make a bunch of links?  ??? ("launcher,alt_launcher,addons,community")
-some of them pointing to the program directory
-other pointing to the tools/ add-on-s directory
-one for the alpha-status maps torrent
i really want only the program on C: st the rest should have an option to choose where to put it?  ???
-a host-local page is to be crafted to bear the relevant links to stuff on the net? ;D :

install tweaks (autoexec, actionmaps)
keyboard layout map

newbs can infact Auto download.. the Mix up is on the server side, The server host must use a directory that  when upload happens it uploads as a raw Zip file , not as 7zip, or another file type. Crysis will not know what to do with the file if the Zipped formatt is not of the proper type
This is not the problem. The problem is that when you run the installer it installs the files as belonging to admin, not the logged in user, and the Levels directory and everything under it is not writable by the user, which is what the program runs as. The cacls command sets the permissions on that dir so that the maps can be extracted there.

Oh... this would be good timing for me. After downloading the previous installer and Bruno's launcher I have had almost no problems playing again after a couple years. Was simple and compatible with shitty windows 10 even.
I have been enjoying a few matches over the past week and am writing a post in hopes of some Ghost Bears joining. I would like to focus on MWLL more than MWO until they can get a sense of work ethic and stop dragging out things. The small volunteer group that developed MWLL pushed out content quicker than PGI, aside from new mechs. They roll those out like they are printing money...

If you can get a new installer that makes everything that much easier then it already was, kudos.

Coffi! Good to hear from you, and that GB might be back!

The current plan is to let users chose which tools to install.

As for configs, I am reluctant to bundle these as obviously each system differs, there was a similar discussion regarding configs and CCC when I created the original installer, I don't want to introduce errors, MWLL plays with the default settings as it is installed, if users want to tweak it to get better performance or visuals then that is up to them (unless I can be convinced otherwise)

I will also not be changing the controls from the default, that's what the Config actionmaps tool is for.

I will include a list of useful links at the end of the installation, including links to the forum and any additional tools or configs that they might want to download .

If you don't want to bundle the super fancy autoexecs we have in the install guide, you could bundle a super very basic version of the autoexec with just these lines (which should help any kind of machine in any case by just lowering the load - while keeping the same graphic settings) , and of course let people decide whether to apply it or not.

Code: [Select]
con_restricted = 0
gpu_particle_physics = 1
e_particles_thread = 1
es_ondemandphysics = 1
e_cbuffer = 2
e_precache_level = 1
r_GeomInstancing = 1
r_texturesstreaming = 1
r_CullGeometryForLights = 1
e_vegetation_static_instancing = 0
e_terrain_occlusion_culling = 1
e_hw_occlusion_culling_objects = 1
e_hw_occlusion_culling_water = 1
e_terrain_occlusion_culling_version = 0
net_enable_voice_chat = 0
s_maxchannels = 128
s_reverbtype = 1
consoleshow

I will also not be changing the controls from the default, that's what the Config actionmaps tool is for.
Speaking about controls, I think our major problem is the reticle lock issue (cl_free_reticle_independent = 1). Maybe you could bundle a set of controls with this command bound to a key like left alt (since the actionmapper doesn't let us to do that)...just an idea

Probs could pretty easily, convince haarp it's worth the ten minutes of effort it will take him.

No coolant was best.

I like things that make this game more hard to play.
:)
I like now we don't use radars most of time  ::)

I'm here, in the first place, because it's hard

So, I was having a thought, if gamespy does not exist any more, and it does not check for a key, is there even any point in having a a part of the installer that allows you to put in a key?  Should we not just generate a random one upon install without any input from the user?

Interested to hear what you guys think.
